Around the Year in 52 Books discussion

Voting is now open!

The 2017 Reading Challenge will continue the concept of this year's challenge, with 52 weekly topics. Users then choose a book fitting each topic in order to complete the challenge.

The Process:
The topics for the 2017 RC list will be determined through around 13 mini-polls. Suggestions for each poll will be open until 20 suggestions are received and then opened up for voting for one week. Each user will vote for their top 4 and bottom 4 topics in each mini-poll, resulting in 4 challenge entries from each (13 polls x 4 topics/poll=52 weekly topics). This timeframe allows for a completed list in October-November.

- Voting ends September 22
- One vote per poll per user

A quite interesting batch for me, there are 10 suggestions I'm interested in. I hope "What Should I Read Next" will win, it's a fun way to choose a book and it's an unusual category :)

For my bottoms, nothing really terrifying, so it's just not really appealing categories.

Some very interesting and creative topics this time around. I had a very clear top 4, but when I went to do the bottom 4, I found I didn't have any that I would consider a real problem to do. It will be interesting to see what we get this time!

I had a very clear top 4 only because they were the topics which as they were suggested, I immediately thought 'ooh, that could be interesting/that sounds good/I like the idea of that one'. I had a couple in the bottom just because I didn't find them very interesting or felt that they were a bit too similar to certain prompts from previous years but there weren't any prompts that I was especially against and I don't really mind which prompts make it in out of this round of suggestions.

Again, I liked a lot of the prompts, I had a hard time to choose!

I had a hard time with this one because there were very few categories that really jumped out at me as either something that I really wanted, or something that I really dread. I could manage with nearly all of them, but they didn't interest me much either.

I have a feeling that most of my top 4 won't make it onto the final list, although there is one that seems like it could be a strong contender. I have a pretty good prediction of what the top 4 will be, so it will be interesting to see if I'm right. Sometimes I'm confident I know what the group will pick, and I'm way off.

My bottom 4 were the categories that I thought would be most difficult to find something that interested me for (based on a bit of browsing), and a couple were topics that really don't interest me much at all.

I felt the same. I had a hard time with the bottom four as nothing was really so unappealing to me.

I had a clear top 3, and had to do some research on others to decide on my 4th.

When it came to bottom 4, I voted for things that were similar to previous winners and ones that were too general.

I also had a hard time making a choice.

Shannon, we usually get somewhere around 100 votes, sometime slightly higher and sometimes slightly lower.

Thank you Laura, I am curious by nature.

I was wondering about that too. I always wonder about how the votes are divided, especially far off the fifth place topic is from the top 4.
