Dela Faber (delafaber) | 10 comments Hey hopefuls ♥
I was just wondering how many books you own, because my friends always say that I own a lot if books, but I feel like I don't have that many. Have you ever counted them? How many do you own? Do you have every single book documented on Goodreads?
Have a lovely day, greetings from Germany ♥

message 2: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I own about 60 books, but I have about another 20 on my kindle. You?

message 3: by Dela (new)

Dela Faber (delafaber) | 10 comments my Goodreads says that I own 126 books and I also have a few on my kindle and some books that aren't on Goodreads, but I also still own a lot of books from my childhood that i wouldn't read anymore so I don't know if they really count..

message 4: by Ash (new)

Ash (ashiew) I own 393 physical books and 5 or 7 e-books... I call it my life's library. I counted my books a couple of months ago and have been keeping track so I don't have to recount them whenever I get new books. And I don't have all of my books documented on good reads. I was going to but I ran into some problems. One problem was whenever I got rid of a book by donating it or selling it I would forget to "un-own" it on good reads and so now it may say I own a book I really don't. Another problem I had is that I have duplicates of a couple of books and I couldn't figure out how to own both editions. So yeah I have kind of quit caring if all of my books are marked as owned on good reads because I know it will never be accurate :) Though whenever I finish reading a book and I own it I will mark it as owned but if I donate a book I usually don't even bother figuring out how to reverse it. Also is my collection too big for a 19 year old? I mean I just love reading. And it is not like I buy all my books new. I rarely buy new books. I get most of my books cheap by buying them used. I go to yard sales, Second and Charles, bargain bins at books a million, online books stores like Better World Books, and also sometimes my mom is able to get me free books sometimes from people she works with who were giving away books they didn't want anymore. Well that is all I have to say :) I can't wait to see other people's responses. I hope everyone has a lovely day *pinkie wave*

:) My room may disagree with you... I have had to start stacking books on my desk. But I agree with you. Never such a thing as too many books :) haha

message 7: by Morganna (new)

Morganna | 59 comments I put all my books onto an excel spreadsheet the other day and I currently have 173 books, although there are at least 30 more that I know of that I want to own. I'm going to need a second bookcase :/

I've read all but 6 of the books in my bookcase, I haven't read 4 because I only got them yesterday and I haven't read the other two because I have to read them for school so I;m saving them until then because they both look kind of boring :/

message 8: by Otti (new)

Otti Fae | 47 comments I have never really counted them, but I guess I have around 300 books of my own. My father was a writer so he also loved reading (I probably got it from him) and he had the biggest personal collection I've ever seen. I kept many of his books I fancied, so I might add at least another 100 to the sum. Of course I haven't read all of them yet! But I aim to :) I usually buy whatever book I find interesting and may not read it right away, it depends on my mood and lack of time! I read a lot of borrowed books as well so it's hard to keep track of the ones I own based on the ones I've read!

Ailsa | 23 comments Well I personally own around 90 books but in our house as I whole is about 600 and my dad owns LOADS of books!

Same, my dad has a study FULL of books. It also occasionally acts as a guest room so we have to tell guests to be careful of the stacks of books falling on them... The room is so full that my dad had to transport a family car full of book to my grandmother's house!

I own round about 209 physical books (and counting of course :P) but then my mum and step-dad have a lot of books as well which i borrow. Xxxx

message 12: by Darby (new)

Darby | 217 comments I've got about 100. Lots of them are thin little novels I read as a kid though. My mom has about 3X as many as I do. Can you tell we like to read

message 13: by Kira (new)

Kira Nerys | 4 comments To Ashley, specifically: I own 419 books and have an additional 39 that have been passed along but I haven't yet read. I keep track of all of the books that I own, and would say that 99% of them are recorded on goodreads. The only reason I can do that is because I never get rid of books (which is a very unhealthy habit). I don't think it's ever possible to own too many books, but I think when your shelves are doubling back on themselves (like mine are), you learn to avoid impulsive buying. I buy books I've already read at used book stores whenever possible, and go to the library to read new things. If you're happy with your system, stick with it!

message 14: by Halah (new)

Halah (valhalah) According to my goodreads list, I have 88 but if you add up all the books from my childhood, and others that I haven't added yet, it has to be 100 +.

Oh wow you have a lot too. That is awesome! :) Yeah my shelves are beginning to get crowded and I have had to put some books on my desk. I have a little more room on my book shelves though and if I rearrange my books I could make more room. But I have definitely changed my book buying habits since I don't have as much room anymore. And I use the library when I can. Though my library has a permanent book sale that they keep in a room near the front of the library and every time I go I always leave with at least one book from there. They are only like 50 cents to a dollar though so at least they are cheap. I have also bought myself a plastic storage bin that I keep a lot of children's books and larger books in and that goes under my desk. And after hearing how other people own lots of books too I feel like there really is no such thing as too many books. My brother has loads of books too. Way more than me. He has had to start stacking some of his books on his floor.
I hope you have a lovely day.:)

Shona (shonalee) | 109 comments I don't know how many books I own but I do have quite a lot and I'm forever buying more haha. Like someone else has said on here you can't have too many books.

message 17: by Juni (new)

Juni (eanaira) | 3 comments Not quite sure, but maybe about 300?

message 18: by C.J. (new)

C.J. Lersch | 4 comments Goodreads says 173. My goal is to have a "Beauty and the Beast"-like library one day.

message 19: by Caleigh Rose (new)

Caleigh Rose (caleighrosebud) I own too many (enough to over-fill up two shelves) but only ten or so are on my kindle.

message 20: by Tania (new)

Tania | 7 comments I haven't counted properly, but I think I have about 100 with me at uni (too many. No student houses have bookshelves!) and then I have a ceiling-high set of shelves at home with mainly books on it. And more up in the attic. Oh, I also have a kindle... I can't bear to ever get rid of books!

message 21: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (chloesinhercorner) I have 120ish on my shelves, but I must have at least another 20 lent out or hidden around my room. I have to go through them every few months and make room for new ones, as I hate having to double up shelves.

⚜️ Victoria ⚜️ (readwfairy) I own in total around 60 books but I usualy after reading them i gave them to my friends or i make an exchange or i take them to a local charity shop. Actually I have 23 books with the most beautiful cover, I'll never gave them away. I also read often from a kindle is more handle and easier to read in public transaport. I don't have lot book really.

message 23: by Zahro (new)

Zahro I own maybe six books? I bought a few, some are novels from school and one I have from a friend. the library's a great source of books seeing as it seems a waste to buy a book I'd likely read only once, but I've been dying to buy a particular series I can't stop re-reading. :(

message 24: by Jennie (new)

Jennie | 10 comments I don´t know exactly how many book I got. I think around 130 more o less.

message 25: by Lina (new)

Lina (booksnotlovers) I don't know the exact number of books, since I have no idea what books in the house are actually mine, and who are my mothers. But in my bedroom, I have around 215 books perhaps. I think there's over 350 in the whole house.

message 26: by Sarosha (last edited Jun 22, 2014 07:18AM) (new)

Sarosha (saroshab) | 12 comments I have 130 books on my bookshelf (around 20 I haven't read) but recently I boxed up most of my childhood books or put them on spare bookshelves around my house. I've never myself considered having very many books, even thought every time any friends come over they tell me I have lots of books. I disagree! However, I have read a lot more books and I do have a massive TBR list but I think any number of books is perfectly fine, each to their own!

message 27: by S (new)

S | 1 comments I scanned all my books on the goodreads app, and I scanned about 250 books. I also had some that didn't have bar codes as they are quite old editions, and there must have been 10-15 of those. I have also acquired about 20 books since then, and I have a lot in my loft, so probably over 300, or possibly even 400?
