Vaseem Khan (vaseemkhan) | 4 comments Hi all

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am an author and avid crime reader (the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connolly is my favourite). I write a light-hearted crime series set in India, for fans of The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series. The first book in my series The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra is a Times Saturday bestseller, Waterstones Book Club selection and Amazon Best Debut pick. This 2015 hit introduces readers to Inspector Ashwin Chopra of the Mumbai police as he moves through the turbulent, colourful fabric of modern Indian society in search of a murderer, whilst simultaneously coming to grips with the surreal dilemma of caring for a one-year-old baby elephant that has been sent into his care. “Endearing and gripping” ~ The Sunday Times; “Colour and atmosphere flows out of every page” ~ The Daily Express; “Utterly charming” ~ The Guardian

Currently on 99p Kindle September 2016 offer

The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra

Ive been writing all summer - busy working on the third in the series - but managing to read a lot too. Lot of domestic noir - most of which, sadly, isn't that good. But I just read the one that started it all - Gone Girl - and thought it was terrific. So definitely a recommend from me.

Niki_g (niki_garg) | 1 comments Hi, I am Nikita. I am from India and I have been reading for 5 years now approximately. I love writing too but I lack determination to become an aspiring writer. In my heart I want to be a really good writer and transcend the myth or conservative mind set of Indian Authors by writing something bold and intriguing. Anyways, I read mostly any kind of book that piques my interest. For example, I like to read dark romance, suspense romance, fiction, best friends to lover or paranormal romance. Ok I like fiction and romance of any category. Well that's about it for now. I am new to this group thingy so I would be looking forward to get to know you all out there, reading my post! :D Cheers!

Mario the lone bookwolf (mariothelonebookwolf) Hi!

I am 32, from Austria and totally into science fiction, fantasy, humor and science topics and always trying to widen my range.
I try to read as many different authors as possible. But I fail because of a serious lack of consequence so that I often get stuck with series. I really try to avoid that trap.

I have read many of the old and new science fiction, humor and fantasy authors and series. The old ones are sometimes harder to read and I am lazy.
And there are not many easier Titans of my favorite genres left I can read.
With the new ones I have the problem that I don´t certainly know how good they will be. And I don´t want to be the one who runs in the blade of an unsatisfying read. A lack of altruism I guess.
Instead, I wait until the book has enough positive reviews on which I can rely. That´s not gentleman style, I know.
But I cherish people who sacrifice themselves for the sake of other readers with uncertain, newly published books. There should be monuments build for them.

I think the best way to read good books is to cooperate with readers who have similar reading interests. And in the brilliant concept of Goodreads to connect this knowledge to rankings and lists.
I base most of my reading choices on Listopia and have never regretted it. Human swarm intelligence is on its rise.

Best regards
