My name is Harsha. I am trying to inculcate the habit of reading. My favorite genre is fantasy and science fiction. Hope I'll have good times with you all.

:)

And well, maybe I like people who do the same, too... ;) Hi all!

@Sumit, and it keeps getting even more massive! I guess I'm going to be rather well read if it ever gets back down to 2-digits :D
@Fong: Southern, though. ;) How so?

I like the books that challenge me, too. And well, people as well ;)
It'll be fun having you here :)
Hello all,
Neeraj here. Born and school-ed up in a Public Sector township in the river town, Haridwar. Ruskin Bond's works were among the firsts.
These days my interests are mostly Non Fiction(India, World Order, Society and Science) with bouts of Existentialism or Indian Fiction(Modern Indian Fiction/Sahitya Academy stuff).
Have recently started to blog about books here, shelfandthebeanbag.blogspot.com

What kind of existential stuff do you read?

I am a fan of Enid Blyton as well. Off hand can't remember anything that funny but am sure our other members would be able to suggest something to suit your needs :)
Hope you have fun here with all of us :)

I am Paakhi, from Delhi :) I have been a lurk on this grp since past few weeks, finally i thought about introducing myself.

All the best for your future plans and here's hoping you have a wonderful time with us :)

Welcome here, Brooke! I do hope you've read Mr. Mercedes already. :)
Welcome Paakhi, and I'm very glad you converted lurking into joining. :P

I'm trying you know; but here are two persons who promise me everyday to read him yet pick another book everytime.
ROFC ROFC :P:P:P

I'm a major King fan, and will join the group you mentioned. It's tough to pick just one favourite, but I think The Shining was great! (I didn't like the movie though).
And my favourite character would probably be Roland the Gunslinger. Such a deep, complex character!

Sorry I replied before and it didn't work :/
King didn't like the movie either, so you're in good company! I haven't even seen it.
I'm really looking forward to finishing the Gunslinger series but my favourite book would have to be the Stand.

I will :)
I will :)

I am Nicholas and I live in the central part of America, Arkansas to be exact. I'm 27 years old and have recently found a true passion for books. While my wife has always been a huge fan of books her whole life, I am fairly late to the party. With a beautiful wife and daughter by my side, I am hungry for books, it's that simple.
I'm sure I will learn more about some of you as the time goes on and vise versa but as far as genres go for me, I enjoy most of everything excluding Romance/Erotica stuff. I'll leave that for the women in the group.
Best regards and hope to hear from some of you soon.

@Nicholas - Your daughter is truly adorable. :)
By the way, your wife and I share a similarity, in that we both got our husbands converted into avid readers :) :)

I'm sure most of us here will be able to relate to having books and characters from books as best friends.
As Groucho Marx said, "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read."

Which one are you reading from Manto? If it's Selected Short Stories from Manto, let me know if you are interested in a buddy read - we could read and discuss together.
