Zaara Hey Maggie, its a great group this one...I've only been here a couple of months and hv found some good folks and great reads. Hv fun with your 2015 reading.

message 303: by Zaara (new)

Zaara @Erin sorry for the WO my spelling...I'm logged on from the app...its pretty basic and I DO hv clumsy fingers.

message 304: by Erin (new)

Erin Smith (erin_smith) Thank you! Maybe we could buddy read at some point, no promises my tbr is ridiculous. No worries my spelling is horrible and I always use my phone too, which is supposed to autocorrect but instead it learns all the ways you spell the word wrong and it's a disaster. I don't actually remember the artist or subject anymore I found this so long ago on deviantart and thought it was beautiful. the artist has a ton of wonderful prints in this style. Some people are so talented. Thank you for the warm welcome!

message 305: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments Welcome to the group guys!

Nadeem, glad to know you're slowly getting back to reading. I hope you enjoy many fascinating reads in the new year. :)

Luffy, is your name inspired from the protagonist in One Piece? I think that show is awesome! :D

Erin, love that detailed introduction! I am not that into Non-fiction but there are some in the group who do enjoy the genre. The only Non-fiction book I read this year is a memoir called The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It's a lovely story and I really liked it. Welcome to the group and I hope we can help you expand your reading horizons. Happy reading! :)

message 306: by Nadeem (new)

Nadeem Shaikh | 51 comments Thanks a lot Shinjini... :)

Hello Nadeem, Luffy, and Erin! Welcome to the group!

message 308: by David (new)

David Hopper (davidhopperbooks) | 3 comments Very nice group! What have I gotten myself into?

I'm Dave, from the USA, although spending only three weeks in India messed with my head a couple of years ago. I hope to return before my visa expires. I would love to do some research for one of those "future writing projects."

By day, I teach, even though my bio says I'm "not the kind of doctor who can do you any good." And yes, I also love to write. I'm currently working on a second novel, set during and around the American Civil War.

I look forward to the lively conversation I see happening in this group!

message 309: by Natt (new)

Natt (natt_) Hi everyone! My name is Natalia, I'm 21, and I'm from Chile. I love reading, my favourite genres are epic fantasy and YA. Writing is my passion (I hope someday I can become a published author), but sadly I don't have enough time to write because university takes 90% of my life (By the way, I'm a Speech Therapy student).
Anyway, I'm looking forward to participate in challenges and discussions with everyone.
Nice to meet you all :)

P.S. I apologize in advance because my english may not be perfect. I read a lot in english, but my first language is spanish. In spite of that, I'll do my best ;)

message 310: by Sumit (new)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) David, welcome. I think a good way of looking at your kind of doctors is that they cater to the mind instead of the body. So, a lot if good gets done in the process.

Welcome, Natalia. Delighted to have you with us. University can be a major investment of time and energy, but do drop in from time to time. :)

message 311: by David (new)

David Hopper (davidhopperbooks) | 3 comments Thanks for the welcome, Sumit.

Your remark reminds me of something my late father-in-law used to say. "In graduate education, you learn more and more about less and less until, eventually, you know everything about nothing!"

message 312: by Sumit (new)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Lol, I knew I was growing old! :P

message 315: by Cali (new)

Cali Hello ! I'm Calixta, 15 years old, from Bordeaux, France. I like to read everykind of books and I'm currently reading Panic by Lauren Oliver.
I'm really looking forward in participating in discussions and challenges because reading is my life and there aren't many people I can share my readings with right now !

PS :I'm apologing for my english because, even if I read in english, I'm french and have difficulties with writing in english !

PPS : I'm also a HUGE fan of Doctor Who !! ;)

message 316: by Sumit (last edited Jan 03, 2015 11:15AM) (new)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Welcome Calixta! Don't worry about the English bit.

Who is your favourite Doctor?

message 317: by Erin (new)

Erin Smith (erin_smith) Hi Calixta! Your English is great and this is a great way to get even better! I love the Eccleston and Tennant the best so far but I'm not up to date on the series. Have you read runemarks by Joanne Harris?

Hiya Amoon...I've only been in your country once long ago and I'd love to learn more about it. Petra is beautiful. If memory were a tapestry, my time there would be worked in threads of silver...

message 331: by Bec (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) Hi everyone. I am Becca.

I am a fourth year psychology student living in south-east QLD, Australia. I am a self-professed cat-lover, coffee-addict, tech-geek, zoloft-taking, yoga-doing kind of girl. I can play many instruments and have performed live on a number of occasions (although I have never found the use of displaying youtube videos).

I've joined because I get restless when I'm on here but people in my other groups aren't active. So I am once again branching out to make bookish friends.

message 332: by Zaara (new)

Zaara Hi Becca....
I moved outta Melbourne just recently

message 333: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis Glad to have you here, Becca... it's so good to know you play many instruments. Would love to chat about them...
I am sure you will make more bookish friends here :D
Have fun :)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments Hello Becca! It's great to have you here. That's impressive how many instruments you play! Which one's your favourite?

message 337: by Bec (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) In the past I have semi-professionally learnt
violin
trumpet
cornet
bass/alto/piccolo recorder

and I have taught myself
viola
keyboard
guitar
vocals/harmonies
and a little bit of drums

message 338: by Ishi (new)

Ishi Bhanot | 14858 comments Hello Becca! Welcome to the group :)

Our Ginny here is a piano player! It's great that you have taught yourself to play ^_^
Not many people can do that! :)

I learn vocal singing with an Indian instrument, harmonium. :)

message 339: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2 comments Hey howdy hey, fellow adventure lovers! I'm Courtney from eternally sunny Southern California, where it's sunny even in Winter! (insert weeping because she wants rainy book days)

I eat up urban fantasy, fantasy, thriller, fiction and young adult novels that don't have a mountainous focus on romance. Strong male leads are my thing, the Cal Leandros novels by Rob Thurman rule the Earth, and The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is a masterpiece.

Thank you for having me. (insert dramatic bow)

message 340: by Srividya (last edited Jan 24, 2015 12:51AM) (new)

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) Welcome to the group Courtney. Glad to have you with us. Incidentally, we share similar weather here in most parts of India as well, where it's sunny and in fact hot during winters!

I also love The Shadow of the Wind. In fact it's one of my favourite reads! Glad to see a fellow lover of that book.

Hope you have a wonderful time with us :)

message 341: by Rajat (new)

Rajat | 1 comments Hi everyone, I am Rajat. I am 35 and live in bidar, KARNATAKA. I work in the Airforce, so the address is always temp. I love reading books and have been at it for a great many years. Science fiction and thriller are my favorite genres. Off late I am dabbling generously into other fields too.
I am new to this kind of group activity. Looking forward to some interesting discussions.

message 342: by Srividya (new)

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) Welcome to the group Rajat. Hope you have a wonderful time with us. Do check our different genre read threads that will start from next month. :)

message 343: by Nicholas (new)

Nicholas Williams (ruinsofgolgotha) | 4 comments Hello everyone. I am Nicholas or Nick, if you prefer the shorter, easier names and I'm 28 years of age. Just as Rajat said above, I am also very new to this whole group thing so don't destroy me. Books of the horror, mystery, thriller and suspense genres are my thing but I'm always open to anything people are truly wanting to recommend. I'm also very open to friend request since I just started Goodreads up again.

Other things about that matter and are important:
I'm married, going on 3 years.
Have a beautiful daughter that is about to turn 2 years old.
I'm a stay at home father. (Be jealous because I rather enjoy it ^_^).
Finally, I am an inspiring writer but I understand I have a long way to go from where I am now.

message 344: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments Hi Nicholas! Welcome to the group! Do not worry, we won't destroy you. You are welcome to read whatever it is you are interested in. We have specific genre reads as well as the Book of the Month (BOTM). Feel free to check them out.

You have a beautiful family and what a cute daughter! All the very best in your writing endeavors.

message 345: by Nicholas (new)

Nicholas Williams (ruinsofgolgotha) | 4 comments Thank you, Shinjini. They're my world, no doubt about that. Also, thanks for the information about the BOTM, I might have to check it out.

message 346: by Sumit (new)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Welcome, Vi. Happy reading, and sharing. And don't worry, we were all new once upon a time, so we'll be nice and friendly. :)

message 347: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis Hey Vi! Good to have you here :D

message 348: by Prassant (new)

Prassant Kevin (prassantkevin) | 3 comments Heyy friends, I am Prassant Kevin. I am an Independent Filmmaker, avid reader and an author. I made a feature film and turned my seven years old movie script into a full fledged novel, 'Pl Let me go' which will be releasing on 19th February. I have been reading and writing stories since the age of 12. I was always inclined towards those stories which have something more to offer than just words and entertainment. And that is what i had tried to bring down in my upcoming novel which is a romantic novel but set in the Post-Apocalyptic world and thus making it India's First book based on the Post Apocalyptic genre.

I love science fiction/ Romance/ and Thriller & Mystery genres. I am sure here I may find many enthusiastic readers and great friends who love reading and always willing to discuss about books and related topics.

Have a great evening guys.
