Kent Babin | 8 comments Hello!

I'm a Canadian author living in Bali. Just self-published my first novel on Kindle 3 weeks ago. It's an espionage thriller entitled Revenge is a Dish Best Served on the Mongolian Steppe.

As I reader, I focus most of my attention on international mysteries and thrillers:

Alan Furst
Philip Kerr
Martin Cruz Smith
Eric Ambler
James Church
Dan Fesperman
Joseph Kanon
Charles Cumming
Olen Steinhauer
Robert Wilson (specifically the Bruce Medway series)
Edward Wilson
Kwei Quartey
David Liss
Robert Harris
Don Winslow (Power of the Dog and The Cartel)
John Burdett
and others...

I'm always on the lookout for new books in the sub-genre, so I would appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks!

Kent Babin | 8 comments Hi Stephie!

Great to meet you. I haven't been to Bandung yet, but I know some people who live there.

Thanks for your suggestions! :) Are there specific books you recommend for each author or all are good?

Hi again Kent,
I am living in Jakarta now because of my work, but twice a month i visit Bandung because my parents there:) You should come to Bandung sometime, the food is spectacular!
Anyway, yes i can give you a suggestion with those book i mentioned:
Paul Britton The Jigsaw Man
Zygmunt Miłoszewski Entanglement
Alice LaPlante Turn of Mind
Daphne du Maurier Julius

I love those authors, and since i read Zygmunt's, i fall in love with Polish authors. I even ordered his other books from Amazon!:))
Oh i forgot, i also love love Oliver Pötzsch, i read his book The Ludwig Conspiracy and it's totally good. I don't know, maybe because his story is about Germany (he is a German too), so whenever he mentioned a place, I directly remember it, because i lived there couple years ago, so..you know..a bit melow:))

Bill Welcome to the group from another Canuck. I've enjoyed a few of your authors, especially Alan Furst. You might also like David Downing.

Good luck with your book. Please feel free to discuss in our Author's Corner and our Promo threads..

Kent Babin | 8 comments Thanks, Bill!

I have read David Downing's books. The recent Jack McColl books are quite good.
