Kevin Kuhn (kevinkuhn) | 20 comments I surprisingly received permission from a music publisher to include some song lyrics in my novel. However, when I asked them how they would like it attributed on the copyright page they asked me to send draft wording and they would revise. Does anyone know the proper format for song lyrics on the copyright page - e.g., lyrics reprinted with permission from . . . .

If your curious, the song is "She Goes On" by Crowded House.

Many thanks!!!!

R. Billing (r_billing) | 228 comments I'd suggest "The lyrics of XXXX are included with the kind permission of ZZZZ, the copyright owners."

OTOH I tend to write my own songs, but I am doing far-future SF. YMMV

Susan Jordan | 2 comments I've done this with two of my books, and the copyright owners sent me the exact wording they required. Here's are the permissions as they appeared in one of my books:

“You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II. Copyright © 1945 by Williamson Music (ASCAP), an Imagem Company, owner of publication and allied rights throughout the World. International Copyright Secured. All Rights Reserved. Used by Permission.

MAN I LOVE, THE (from “Strike Up the Band”). Music and Lyrics by GEORGE GERSHWIN and IRA GERSHWIN. © 1924 (Renewed) WB MUSIC CORP. All Rights Reserved. Used by Permission of ALFRED MUSIC.

Hope this helps!
