Anyhoo, one of the things I love about subscription boxes is that they put books in my path that I may not have stumbled upon otherwise.
I'll read almost anything :)
Hi Sue :D Haha, that's okay. So there's no type of book that you prefer to read in particular?
I can totally identify with the reading almost anything bit. That's me for sure, although I do find I drift towards fantasy and sci fi a bit more if left to my own devices.

Ahem. But seriously, anything that surprises me by existing and falls into these genres I'll be happy with. The Just City was such a gem of a find, like who even knew someone was mad enough to write that and do it successfully?! Out of all the genres I am totally a frequent fantasy binge reader with an occasional cleansing of the palate with historical fiction.
Actually, you make a good point Kirstie. What about topics that interest you and grab you?
For me, anything with gods being taken down or as flawed beings or interacting with humans significantly. I loooove twists on old concepts and stories, too. Also, monsters in human form or monstrous humans or well... actually, I kind of like anything with monsters/mythical creatures in general as long as they're not super super creepy/scary. Although I'm careful about things with vampires, werewolves, and the Fae, mostly because those are paths long trodden. Oh, and I'm a sucker for your noir-style, gritty detective type stories with their matter-of-fact, deadpan, world-weary tone. I'm reading this great ARC right now....

I love a good detective story, too, and if it's historical fiction that's something I've never heard of then GRABBY HANDS. Obviously, anything with dragons goes without saying and truth be told anything with classic fantasy elements, I'm in.
I also have a certain weekness for time travel and steampunk. Just sayin'.
Oh! Time travel! Totally agree with you there. But again, it needs to be done well. The number of time travel books that screw it up as a concept or execution is frustrating.
I have to say, I don't quite get the appeal of steampunk. Is it the fashion? The mechanics?
Hmm detective story and historical fiction. Sooo... Sherlock fan? xD
I think I put the ARC on my currently reading hmm. I know I was talking about it on Twitter because I couldn't contain myself xD It's a novella so it'd be hard to include it in the box I think.

I worship
Science fiction done in cool and whacky ways, anything with a kickarse female MC because I'm such a sucker for badass women :)
Also any book that can really make me think, I love a book that made me ponder about the subject and topics it was talking about they're the ones that stick in my brain and make me love them.
I'm big on Sci-fy and Fantasy but I'm also a sucker for really grungy stories, like the more murder the better Do I sound slightly manical or is all still okay? I love detective stories but I don't read enough of them anymore! I'm starting on them again and I can't believe I stopped reading them for so long.

What sort of books do you prefer to see in boxes? What genres do you want to see more of?
