The only thing that irritates me with this series now is two things:
1) I wish we got to see more interaction between Drizzt and Carrie-Brie. I know these aren't meant to be romance novels, but when you spend about 22 books, waiting for them to get together and then they finally do, I expect to see a little bit more of there relationship.
2) some of the characters personalities just changed too drastically too quickly. Like Artimes (goes from cold blooded killer to now some guilt feeling "friend" of Drizzt). Jarlax, starts off as this charming, yet still intimidating mercenary leader, ends up as basically the comic relief. And now Carrie-Brie, who in all other books is this confident, logical, sympathetic warrior...now has gained a "wisdom" due to being a chosen for Melikiee (also, when did she convert to that, cause I'm pretty sure it is said in one of the books that she worshipped the dwarven gods)..and now she's just different, and I don't think I like it. Especially the way she reacted in Hero ***SPOILER BELOW**
When crazy Drizzt attacks her, thinking it's all a trick...she lashes out with her magic and throws him around, wraps him in a rug (I can understand that just for the sake of restraining him)...calls Guen to her side and then is all "I loved you, but if you think to lay your hand on me again, I'll destroy you!" Like some battered wife, we all know, and she should know, that Drizzt would and has never hit her! Plus, looking back on her character you would think being the logical, rational and sympathetic person that she is, would have realized that there was something wrong with him like she did when Wulfgar hit her. But, she didn't, and it just felt weird and out of place, then the fact that she just lets him go, let's him leave her to go train with some monks. I felt like the real Cattie, would have been more torn up and would have been pleading with him to come to his senses...not just a "well, love, go on and I hope you fix your head..if I'm dead by the time you do, it was fun."
**spoiler ended**
But other then that, it was good. Can't wait for the next one!!
