Ch1-2. All rather nausea inducing at the moment. Wonder if I'd care more if I'd read the first book.

25%-I don't know whether to laugh or groan right now.

60%-amused at the gingerbread making scene, but everything else just feels so contrived. Lily and Dash could make things so much easier if they actually talked to each other!

I've read the first book, I didn't realise you could read this one without reading that one. I can't really remember what happened though as I read it two years ago I think.

I am still planning to read this, my copy is just taking forever to get here. Hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow and I can start straight away. :)

82%-carnage, with one or two redeeming features!

Finished and I think it would have meant more if I'd read the first book. However, by the end I was feeling the Christmas spirit.

Chapters 1-3
(view spoiler)[ Ugh!!! I wan to Lily I know and love back!!! I'm used to the cute and whimsical Dash and Lily, not the depressive version. It really makes me sad that they are so young and going through a "sour" phase in the relationship after the honeymoon phase. The thing is, if they could sit down and have an actual conversation things could easily be fixed. I feel like Dash thinks he knows her well, and maybe in some ways he does, but in others he doesn't. Like when he gave her the tree, it was a great idea and just what she needed at the moment, but he thought she wanted him to leave, that it was more of a family thing and that she wasn't doing it for herself, it would be for him. In reality, she really needed him to stay and be part of this magical thing she's created. She needs him to help her find the magic, but he doesn't want to get in her way so he's staying out of it.
The tree lighting was horrifying!! I was horrified and embarrassed and disappointed for them. Again though, some communication between not only Dash and Lily, but also between Dash and his parents would have worked some wonders here. At the very least she could have told Dash she invited his dad and that would have avoided so much! If they don't figure something out soon, I don't know that this is going to have such a great ending as the first book. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 4-7
(view spoiler)[ Ok, I couldn't stop laughing once Lily found the naughty gingerbread cookies! I found it so amusing I had to read parts of it to my husband. I found myself agreeing with Lily that Dash should have stayed, that it didn't matter that it was pointless it was just that he was so committed to her. Again though, it can be traced back to communication. I mean, he practically told Langston he loved her, he just seems to be kind of an emotional leper. While Lily likes to where emotions on her sleeve, Dash likes to store them away safely. The party scene was weird and I could feel my heart crushing when Lily told Dash they should break up, just because she thought he was going to do it first, all due to a lack of communication. Even after when Dash told her it was all set up to try to get her Christmas spirit back, there wasn't enough talk about what was actually going on. The whole thing with Dash and Edgar though, that was comical. I loved the duel!!! Overall, I'm still missing the special qualities that make them magical, like the first book. (hide spoiler)]
