post completed staff members here. they must include everything required on the template minus house & year, though please include what their position at the school is. make sure the position is open. all characters must include an image, not just a link, but a picture or gif. each character must have an actual face claim, and no pictures can be drawn.

♥   all about miss ( ophelia abbey )   ♥

ophelia is bubbly and sociable with almost everyone who will act kindly towards her. she isn't one to easily express dislike towards others or even feel it in the first place. while teaching, she's firm if she must be, and she generally enjoys her job very much - a lot more than most. she has a wide variety of friends, and her only enemies are those who hate on her or her loved ones. she's also gay all the way, so hate on her sexuality and she won't like you as well.

▶APHRA AURELIA PELLION◀
29 - female - cuisine teacher

━━ aphra is full of energy and life, pure sunshine as some would say. Unfortunately, she isn't always peaches and cream. Her mood can change with the flip of a switch- one instant she's bubbly and bright, the next, a raging hurricane to destroy everything you hold dear. She's a total pushover though, and most of her classes end up with fresh cookies and her regaling tales of her gap year abroad in Buenos Aires.

✖ hates doing dishes, abstract art, and flavorless food
✖ loves the smell of petrichor, knitting, and travel
✖ excels at cooking, talking excessively, and binge-watching tv
✖ fails at resisting sweets, doing her nails, and controlling emotions

━━ with her extremely fancy name, you'd assume Aphra was born to the Duke of Something-Something, but in reality she was born in Philadelphia to a banker and yoga teacher. Her childhood was extremely boring and average, with the occassional vacation to Disneyworld or something. When she was 17 her maternal grandmother in Florida died, leaving all her money to Aphra's mother. With this money, Aphra left to study at Le Cordon Bleu, but spent the next five years after college working as a short order cook in a Los Angeles restaurant. When she was searching online for jobs, she saw Vanderbilt had an opening. A job teaching basic cooking skills on an island sounded perfect, so here she is.

problem is, you don't always know that you've crossed that line; maybe it's enough that the world thinks I'm a hero.

[ t ] hey say life is too short for you to analyze everything you do, but that's not what Yesmi thinks. Or, as people tend to call him without his permission, Yes. He's come to learn that if you wanna make the best of your life you sure as hell better look at the mistakes that people before you have made. Don't be like them; be better. But the big problem he has to deal with is that he isn't exactly cut out to deal with people. He doesn't quite like them, and they don't like him. Or, that's what everyone thinks.

Yes is very painfully aware of how terrible he is with people. He's very aware that sometimes his words may just make people uncomfortable or that he might say something that will most definitely offend, but it's not something he can really help. He tries, he really tries, but it doesn't always work out. He gets defensive, real fast, if he feels like he needs to. Emotionally, he's Area 51. It's hard to tell what he's thinking or feeling unless he tells you, and he doesn't really tell anyone that--not even the person he's been going to explicitly for that purpose. But one thing that most people don't see is that he's helpless crippled by his social anxiety and loneliness. Most decidedly not a good mix.

The only reason Yesmi even took on the job to teach two classes was to force himself to interact with people more. The students might not like his monotone voice, but he's getting there. He generally gets very involved when he finds something to be passionate about, and numbers and coding are things he really loves. He's loved them since he was little, and he had no one to turn to. He could turn to that dinosaur of a computer and start fiddling with it. He could turn to the numbers in his textbooks with the answers in the back. His parents, though, were a different story.

Among the things that people know about him, it's that you shouldn't get on his nerves. He might look harmless and weak, but Lord knows he can pretty much destroy your life. Everyone has secrets, and he knows how to get to them. That, and some people just open up to him. People have noted that his inability to find the proper words and his generally dismissive attitude when he can't think of something is very helpful for when they just need to talk about his problems. Maybe he should have been a Psychologist.

[ t ] here seems to be a lack of communication for most that speak with Mei. They think she's...not so bright at times, which is not the case. She has a tendency to overthink things, to worry constantly. For herself, for her students that might be failing her class, or even for someone totally unrelated to her. She's always been a people person, the type to look out for others. One could say that she's a mother hen, constantly fretting over her chicks. But she loves to teach, her worries don't get in the way of that, at least.

She's a long way from China, the country of her birth. She loved it there, but she also loves it at Vanderbilt. She thinks of it as a fun new experience, though she's been here for two years already now. She finds some difficulty in getting accustomed to the world around her, but she knows that everything is always changing. That she just has to get used to that idea, and everything will be okay.

Mei took the job because she felt it would be the best opportunity for her. She felt it would get her connections to other schools when the time came. The love of her country and language has always pushed her to teach others of it. She doesn't see it as just a job, but a duty. In times of constant misunderstanding and tragedy, she thinks it can all be overcome by educating each other. If there are no misgivings of a person and their circumstances, or even the circumstances of where they came from, harmony can be found. People would think that she's overly positive, but that has always been how she sees it. And so, she's here to eradicate any misunderstanding about herself as a person, and the place she came from.

Adam was always average, until high school, when he gathered a passion for world history. He went to NYU, getting a B.A. in Humanities, majoring in Anthropology. He spent some time after college working as barista and getting a teaching degree. Adam taught in public school for around three years, before seeing a position open up at Vanderbilt. [ Name ]: Caesar Carlton
[ Age ]: 35
[ Gender ]: Male
[ Sexuality ]: Straight

[ Occupation ]: Film Teacher
[ Talents ]: Acting, Dancing, Directing, Writing

[ Description + History ]

Tisch School of the Arts. That had always been Caesar’s dream. Growing up in Indianapolis, pictures of the big city hung on his wall. Pamphlets from NYU flooded his top drawer. All for one dream. To be an actor. And he got there, only to drop out after one year.

Caesar Carlton’s first Golden Globe was for acting. He had been in a TV miniseries following the lives of teenagers growing up in a rough neighborhood. Caesar had never stepped a single foot into a “rough neighborhood” at that point in his life. His acting was all guesswork based on what he’d seen in the media. After the show’s conclusion, Caesar decided to actually take a look - and he was inspired by how wrong he had been.

When he first declared he wanted to be a director, people scoffed. He was a television star. But he worked with countless directors and screenwriters and producers until he wrote his first script at 25. When no one would direct it, he took the reins. The man who had directed his miniseries produced it.

It was a smash hit at Sundance. 3.5/4 by Roger Ebert. 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. “Insightful.” “Groundbreaking.” “Heroic.” It was his big break.

Caesar Carlton would direct two more blockbusters by the time he was 30. One of them won the Golden Globes Best Drama. The other won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. But he grew empty.

That was when someone had suggested teaching. Caesar initially considered going the Tisch or USC, but then he saw Vanderbilt’s salary...and its wonderful students, of course. He found himself in a nice job nurturing young filmmakers. Every summer Caesar writes a script and sells it to a big company. Several of them turnout pretty great.

Caesar is a visionary. A creative force. But he is also a strong, passionate individual who only compromises so much. And that’s what makes him unique. He is not greedy, though he does appreciate a nice check, and he works hard to get what he wants. He is a trailblazer and an excellent teacher for those with drive.

_______________________________________
dinah was born the youngest of four and the only daughter to a billionare renown throughout the world for being president of israel diamond exchange - a private company known for dealing being the world's largest diamond exchange - in ramat gan, israel. she grew up with everything she could want for, her home city of over a hundred thousand being known for diamonds more than anything else and holding an entire diamond exchange district controlled by her father's company.

when it came time for her to go to school, her parents wasted no effort or coin to get her into the best school possible - vanderbilt academy. she quickly proved herself to be capable in many areas, from academics to sports to arts, though she mainly turned her focus to academia, regardless of most her peers getting away without doing any school work because of their money and herself being able to if she wished. her academic drive resulted in her being sorted into the diamond house, which she supposed was a bit ironic considering her upbringing.

she thrived at vanderbilt, becoming popular without vicious, intelligent without being nerdy. once graduating, she went on to attend stanford university in california with a double major in business management and law, and a minor in economics. after graduating, she went to work for israel diamond exchange, her father's position as president easily securing herself a starting position that most would have to spend years to earn. however, dinah proved herself fully capable of the responsibilities given to her, being dedicated and hard working.

she eventually tired of the business, it being too repetitive for her taste - something more that she worked in because of expectation and not desire, and that did not create a true passion. her father didn't find that news entirely unexpected, being sad to know his only daughter had little interest in the business but accepting her decision. from there, she got a position as a diplomat for israel, and she traveled on behalf of her country for a few years - some of her travels being more work oriented and others leaning more towards leisure.

on one trip, she found herself near her old school, so she made a day out of stopping at vanderbilt and wilmington and talking with some old teachers, as well as the headmistress. she managed to say she had no definite future plans, and by the end of the day, she got an offer to be the deputy headmistress based on her past experience. it felt like that was the right job for her immediately upon being offered it, and it didn't take long for her to accept. dinah has fallen right back into routine, and she is doing well at her job, wholeheartedly dedicated to bettering vanderbilt as best as she is able.

usually kind, Adelaide is only rude when she has been dealing with bratty students for far too long. Being headmistress has caused her to become a bit cynical, but she always takes the time to attend to students and their needs, no matter their importance, which shows in the dark circles under her eyes. Due to her upbringing, she can be a bit haughty at times, which makes her a little less popular with the scholarship students.

history
born in Delhi to two very wealthy, old money real estate professionals, who made a very large business out of selling and buying land in the most populous regions of the world, Adelaide led a very priviledged life. Adelaide's family moved to London when she was ten for the family business, where they got
involved in the philanthropy scene. It didn't take long for them to find out about Vanderbilt, but when they did, Adelaide was whisked off straight away, and she loved it. She was incredibly intellectual and absolutely thrived at Vanderbilt, making lots of friends and learning the entirety of highly advanced subjects in a matter of days. After graduating, she moved back to England to attend England, earning a bachelor's in Economics and Management, along with a master's in Higher Education in the span of two years. She worked at her parent's company, before realizing she wanted something different. So she set off for Vanderbilt, determine to get a job no matter how long it took. After pleading with the board of trustees for a week, she became the headmistress of the Academy.

H I S T O R Y | honestly, lucy has a very sad life. she had a normal upbringing, nothing like the students of vanderbilt, but she discovered a longing for the laid-back rich lifestyle while working in an upscale neighborhood during high school. she decided to become a teacher, and she found a job at vanderbilt as a high-level science instructor. she seems like the most shallow, dumb person on earth, but she is truly very smart and can understand very high level topics. this annoys most people, including her students, who can't imagine her having such a high iq. to afford an even slightly lavish lifestyle, she works part time at almost all of the wilmington establishments, but she still doesn't find the money for everything that she wants.

DAVID ZHU HUAN

26 + m + bi + mandarin teacheralumnus ( heart )

David Zhu was not born David. Up until he started at Vanderbilt, he was Zhu Huan, the youngest son of Zhu Yan and Lin Mengyao — then he changed his name to David because he was sick of people mispronouncing it.

David's always been very straightforward. He sees no point in beating around the bush. If he has something to say, he'll say it — unless he's concerned about hurting someone's feelings.

For the most part, David is the relatable, funny young-ish teacher who knows how to use technology and can discuss memes with students — but he's also the teacher that gives you detention for not paying attention, the teacher that won't shy away from giving homework for over the holidays. His students love him for his tendency to tell really bad jokes in Mandarin, and hate him for his other teaching tactic — songs. Because what's a language class without at least one really catchy, annoying song that you can't get out of your head no matter how hard you try?

Once upon a time, life was good and none of David's students knew that he could sing. Then some frustratingly intelligent kid found his old YouTube channel and the covers he'd made when he was, like, fifteen — and now it's a tradition in his classes that if they all do well enough in their exams then at the end of term they can collectively pick one pop song for him to sing in front of them.

    15/01 — final performance

# haneul # performance # gifs # im sad but i guess he has to retire in case he messes his knee up even worse # im so jealous of the kids @ vanderbilt # they get /haneul/ as their dance teacher # it's a shame though bc he's only 24 and he's already having knee problems # fc : lee taemin

prettyboy
anyway anyone who says that haneul shouldn't have taken the job at vanderbilt is rude let him make his own life choices

drcp
why would he want to work for a bunch of snobs though? they were probably blackmailing him.

yoo-haneul
fun fact haneul already released an official statement saying that he was offered a job there and he took it because he loves teaching and dancing, nothing was said about rich people.

# wow some people r so disrespectful # let him make his own goddamn life choices # negativity / # he had to deal with so much as a kid, as a teenager and now as an adult too # actually now that i think about it he probably still has to deal with his abusive mum on top of dumb ‘fans’

yoo-haneul
haneul's most iconic line will always be “if you're worried about people staring at you, practice facing away from them or with your eyes closed. then you can't see them staring.”

# stan talent stan an eternal fount of wisdom # i love him he says the smartest things sometimes # but also sometime he says really dumb things # “i can dance with an injured knee” # NO U CANT LOOK WHERE THAT GOT U # someone buy him self-care lessons for his birthday # im so glad he finally managed to get away from his mum completely

From an early age on, Jacob was always told to appreciate everything he had, and he did. He loved his mother more than anything else in the world. He had an average education growing up, an unpopular kid, since nobody really wanted to hang out with him, except for his best friend, Alisa Reyes, who he spent every waking moment without his mother with. The two of them were always together, then when Jacob entered high school, Alisa's father, who was a cop, had a calling to move to America, so she moved away, but they still kept connections, texting and stuff. She was the first person he came out to when he realized after having a crush on a boy when he was a sophomore. Jacob was rather lonely during the last years of high school and college, but he made it through, thinking about his mother. His mother welcomed him home, telling him that a friend of hers had offered her position as librarian here at Vanderbilt Academy, and he graciously accepted, not wanting to go through the trouble of finding jobs. He met Hunter Roxx, who was going for secretary, and even though he was rejected, they stayed best friends.
