Jenna's conquering Mount Doom with no Lembas Bread series challenge

As good as DHG, MOI and TBH and then throw in that it's not just a book climax but the series one as well. So epic."
I know!! I just want to make sure I give it the attention it deserves. I'm going to read a couple more books before I get back into Malazan. Maybe I'll start it in July. I'll pop in on the thread if you want to chat about it. :)

Sure, it's still fresh in my mind. When you read Blood and Bone I'd suggest reading the MOI prologue first and pay attention to the Kallor parts. It will make sense a lot quicker if you do. I re-read it as part of Forge of Darkness confused me and reading it filled in a lot of things for the other book as well. Amazing with the tie-ins.

Thanks for the advice - I cannot remember back to what was exactly in the MOI prologue so it'll be a good refresher.

I remembered the gist of it but there's some important info about Jacuruku and Ardata that I didn't remember at all. At that point Ardata hadn't become relevant and really until Blood and Bone there really was no info on Jacuruku.

I had to move Draconis Memoria to "incomplete," but I'm slowly making progress with Dresden and I think it's high time I knock the main Malazan series off the Incomplete list.

Get the tissues ready. I was a wreck after finishing and couldn't think of anything else for a couple of weeks. As good as DHG, MOI and TBH and then for good measure throw in it's not only the convergence of the book but of the series. BRB I need a hit off the rustleaf pipe to relax and I don't even smoke. :)

Jenna, let me know if you want to read the latest Draconis book much later in the year. Like November / December.

Your incomplete is really impressive. Well done Jenna. I think you need to change your challenge title :-). Jenna Rocks This Challenge!

Thanks! Sadly that name is just not as exciting as the one I came up with (no offense, yours is a great title, but LOTR wins every time). Maybe I will change it to "conquering" Mount Doom instead. :)

I'm just....there's really no words. I'm in awe. And it just makes me want to go back and read the whole series again....wow.

I don't know if I've ever felt this strongly about a book/series before. It sounds dramatic and cheesy, but it's true.

I've said it before but two weeks after finishing I was still walking around thinking about the book and series and had to pull myself back into day to day life forcefully.

Congrats Jenna such a big accomplishment. You moving on to the other Malazan series?

I think the only reason it wasn't longer was because I finished off Empire, Kharkanas and Path to Ascendency since then so I've been on the move. With only Fiends of Nightmaria to go, and I'm not paying $30 for 90 pages with a third being pictures, now I have no outlet until Deadhouse Landing hits in November. I hope you join us for that BR.

Thank you! Yep, I've been reading it in the recommended reading order. I was reading it with Scott, but I took a break so I'm behind.

You should try to do the other 5 so you can join Deadhouse Landing on November 14th. Blood and Bone and Assail together don't equal the word count of TCG. FoD and FoL are long. Dancer's Lament is by far the best ICE book. I finished in 4 days and if it hadn't been for a busy schedule it would have been faster. I didn't want to put it down.

It does feel really weird. All I can do is think about it now.

Finally got around to finishing the Reckoners series. 4 incomplete series left. Just waiting for my copy of Age of Swords to arrive.

I finally finished Reckoners last month after starting it in the same buddy read as you. Did you like the last two books? I found all three to be fairly consistent quality. I know most people hated book three but I found it on par. It was a series I really enjoyed while taking into account it's a fun YA series and nothing earth shattering.

I thought the same thing. They weren't books I was like "I need to know what happens next" or "this series changed my life." It was fun and quick - I'd probably recommend them to someone like my brother who doesn't read much. To me, they were all pretty equal in quality, but I found the last one slightly worse than the others. Still all 4 star reads for me.

You also have a lot more finished series than I do, so we can be jealous of each other if that makes you feel better. ;)

Decided to abandon Lightbringer. While I really liked the first three, the fourth one was a bit disappointing and I ended up skimming some of it. By the time the fifth one comes out, I'll have forgotten what has happened and I don't want to read the fourth one again.
Yes! I thought the same with Lightbringer. I was really disappointed. Unsure yet though if I'll abandon the series.

I'm pretty quick to abandon a series I'm not enjoying. So many books, so little time.

That's probably a good idea. I also though book 3 ended really well so I had high expectations going into the 4th one.

Though I do know who Buffalo Bill is, I can't say I've heard the phrase "go all Buffalo Bill" either.
