2014 June Pick-It-For-Me! Challenge

You don't have to have read the books it is just a sorting tool. Basically it is based on genre. If you want to participate, I can put you anywhere or you can tell me what your favorite sub genre of romance is and I'll put you there! "
Thanks MountainKat, now I have a couple more books on my TBR list from the couples list. I could commit to reading one book for this challenge. I guess I would go into the Joss & Braden (Contemp Rom) or (Hist Rom) Jamie&Claire, which ever one is fine. My shelves that could be used are Pick from this shelf, ARC and On Hold Up Next. I will update my shelves a bit.

Something Blue:

Angi, take your time!
I'm going to bed, it's after midnight here :)

I didn't even realize what time it was. If I can still be in, I'd much appreciate it."
I'll get you in for repicks too! But you have to wait till Tuesday, sorry. =(

Something Old:
Cinder by Marissa Meyer (TBR)
I think everyone I know is tired of me recommending this. My copy is disgusting from all the chip/coffee snackers who've borrowed it from me.
Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie (New)
This is my favorite of the books I've read from Jennifer Crusie :) I'm actually hoping to reread it (again) soon as ones of my Meet & Greet picks.
The Duke by Gaelen Foley (TBR)
On your TBR since 2011. This was the first historical romance I read so it has a special place. It's not like any others I've read and I think it's one of those you either love or hate.
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi by Jill Myles (TBR)
On your TBR since 2010. I own this one but haven't yet read it.

Something New:
Lick by Kylie Scott (New)
New to you author. New adult is such a mixed bag but I'm loving this series. Very sexy and fun.
Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn (TBR)
New to you author. I really enjoy this series. The first 2 books (if I recall correctly) are fairly 'meh' though.
Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones (TBR)
Released this week!
Unbound by Cat Miller (New)
Released in April. I haven't read it but it's got a 4+ rating here.

Something Borrowed:
Dark Witch by Nora Roberts (TBR)
I still haven't read it but it's been recommended to me by many people.
Hard as It Gets by Laura Kaye (New)
This was a random amazon recommendation for me. Read it and loved it!
Divorced, Desperate and Delicious by Christie Craig (New)
This was recommended to me and I almost passed on it because of the cover. I ended up pleasantly surprised.
Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks (TBR)
Another one I haven't read but have been recommended several times.

Something Blue:
Black Ice by Anne Stuart (TBR)
Blue cover. I enjoyed this one. Really intense romantic suspense.
The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After by Julia Quinn (TBR)
I've yet to be disappointed by a Julia Quinn book.
Mate Claimed by Jennifer Ashley (TBR)
Blue cover and I've enjoyed everything I've read from Jennifer Ashley (just her historical series thus far).
Adam by Jacquelyn Frank (TBR)
Blue cover.

I am picking for Carla Colette. Will post her book picks in this post.
2014 June PIFM - Picking Rules
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue...
Something Old:

Something New:

Something Borrowed:

Something Blue:

I enjoyed looking through your shelves. We like a lot of the same paranormal series, so I hope you enjoy your picks. Happy Reading!
Something Old:
My favorites:
My favorite author is Jayne Ann Krentz and she writes under three names, so I give you the choice of contemporary (Copper Beach) or historical (Crystal Gardens). These are both fairly recent new series. Or if you are in the mood for something a bit more humorous, check out Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie.
Older book on your TBR:
Friday Night Bites by Chloe Neill continues a good series. Or try and ignore the cover long enough to check out Tiger Eye which was pretty good even if it did briefly go where no shifter book should go.

Something New:
New to you author:
A good new UF series with a fury as the main character for something different - Red Hot Fury by Kasey MacKenzie. Or an interesting twist on demons and the seven sins with Every Demon Has His Day by Cara Lockwood. Or check out a paranormal cozy mystery with Truly, Madly by Heather Webber.
New Release:
You have Blindness by Ginger Scott on your TBR that just came out this year.

Something Borrowed:
Recommendations I've enjoyed:
Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews is my favorite book of the year. It is interesting because you meet new types of paranomals and older types with new backstories. I also enjoyed Animal Magnetism by Jill Shalvis.
Recommendations on your TBR:
Dragon Actually by G.A. Aiken was a fun read. You don't often get warrior heroines.

Something Blue:
Reliable authors:
You love Estep's Elemental Assassin series, so check out her YA Mythos Academy series with Touch of Frost. Lynsay Sands consistently has fun, humorous books, so keep going with Love Bites.
Blue Covers:
These are both from your TBR. Sealed with a Curse by Cecy Robson the sisters have familiar paranormal powers but with a twist, which makes it interesting. I know Lisa Kleypas has a huge following, so check out Someone To Watch Over Me (aqua is a type of blue).

Here are your picks.....I hope you find something you like! If you need some more selections just let me know :)

Something Old:
Life in Fusion – one of the oldest on your TBR...why haven't you read this yet???
Small Town Siren – another one that's been on your TBR for a long time; I've been wanting to try this author, so maybe a buddy read possibility?
One Reckless Summer – I know this is probably a bit longer than you like, but so emotional and so worth it!
Kiss of the Highlander – Another one that's very emotional and sweet, but also really funny.
Something New
Island Fever – New release from your TBR and it doesn't look like you've read this author before, it works for the Monthly challenge, and another buddy read possibility.
Grand Adventures – Another new release from your TBR, I really want to read this one, just need to figure out when I can fit it in.
Bear, Otter, and the Kid – Love this book and series! So sweet and funny.
A Touch of Midnight – Another that's not on your radar, but a short intro to the world of the Midnight Breeds that's well worth the time to read.
Something Borrowed
Truce: The Historic Neighbor from Hell – had to fudge a bit here, I've never had this one recommended, but have had the series recommened a bunch of times, and once I finally got to it I loved it!
Friend-Zoned – I've had this recommended to me a couple of times, but still haven't managed to read it...another possible buddy read, depending on timing.
Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake - Once more, not what you're generally reading much, but I've loved everything I've read by this author, so well worth a look.
Mistletoe Mischief – Definitely out of season, but short, sweet and fun, and another option for the Monthly challenge.
Something Blue:
Off the Record – well, it's sort of blue...loved the first book in this series, and looking forward to getting back to it soon.
Secrets on the Sand – haven't read this, but it sounds like it might be good.
Fix You – We both really like Mari Carr, but it doesn't look like you have this one on your radar.
A Taste of Love – I've never read anything by Andrew Grey that I didn't like...
Happy Reading!

Something Old
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher - I love this series and am eagerly awaiting the new one next week. I see that you enjoyed the first one so why not keep going?

Something New
The Devil's Brew by Rhys Ford - Just released earlier this week. On my birthday no less. I had to pick it.

Something Blue
Cinder: A CinderFella Story by Marie Sexton - Blue cover
Armed & Dangerous by Abigail Roux - I never see anything but raves for this series so it sounds reliable to me.
Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews - Another reliable author. This husband & wife writing team hasn't let me down yet.

Mystery Man and How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf and something on your tbr for years is Bitten.

Something Blue
From your TBR

New to you

Let me know if none of these work for you...

1. Something Old: Archer's Voice: Though I'm technically still reading this (I'm 81%) I already know it's a favorite. [New to You] Or: If you're willing to give M/M a go, I'd highly suggest Plan B: It's my absolute favorite. [New to You]
2. Something New: Fangirl: It's a fun, quick read. [TBR] Or: The Book Thief: This book is nothing short of amazing. [TBR]
3. Something Borrowed: Bear, Otter, and the Kid: Another absolute favorite of mine that was recommended to me by a friend which I'm glad it was because who knows if I would have ever read it going off the cover alone (another M/M). [New to You] Or: The Lightning Thief: My sister convinced me to read this book, and I'm glad I did. It's a quick, fast paced read. [TBR]
4. Something Blue: Amy and Roger's Epic Detour: I've yet to be disappointed by Morgan Matson. I just bought her third book which I plan on starting as soon as I finish the other book I'm reading; this was her debut novel, and the first one I read. [New to You] Or: Anna and the French Kiss: Stephanie Perkins' books are just plain fun. I loved both of her first two books and I'm eagerly anticipating her third. [TBR]
I hope you enjoy your picks whichever ones you choose.

we don't have lots of books in common, but i feel as though there are enough similarities to choose some good books for you...fingers crossed, anyway.

About the M/M, how graphic are they with regards to the sex scenes? I don't read erotica.

*Facepalm*
I meant to put Lola and the Boy Next Door. I saw that you'd read it, but then when it came to picking something, I totally forgot about having seen that. Whoops. Everything I said for Anna . . . still applies for Lola . . . , however.
Hmm. Well, I wouldn't say that they're erotic. I mean, there's sex in them, so if that's what you mean by "erotic", then I guess these probably wouldn't be your cup of tea, but they're definitely not erotic in the sense that they're all about sex with dialogue tossed in to break up the monotony. If you don't like to read books with sex in them, then, if you'd like, I could give you two different picks. Just let me know.

Oh! That's good, I've been wanting to read that for awhile now.
I am going to need three repicks. I can't get Bear, Otter, and the Kid, Plan B, or Archer's Voice at my library. Too bad, to, the first two sounded good. I am thinking that I probably won't be able to get any M/M at the library.
I don't mind sex scenes, I just don't like graphic scenes. I loved Manhunting because the characters got to know each other before they hopped into bed. I didn't like The Pregnancy Test because the author spent half of the book graphically describing the sex scenes, and then decided the characters should be in love. Sorry to ask for repicks! I hope this helps with them.
( It really does suck the library didn't have Plan B or Bear, Otter, and the Kid.)
