A fan of Noah Hawley’s prior work, I came to this novel with high expectations. I’m delighted to say that, if anything, they were exceeded! Hawley’s tale of a plane crash and its aftermath takes full advantage of its non-linear structure to ratchet up tension. Peopled with characters both admirable and undesirable, you’ll be fully invested in the fate of the protagonist, and completely consumed with the mystery at the heart of this novel—who or what caused this small plane to crash in the first place? As well-written as it is compelling, you’ll be torn between savoring this tale and racing to the finish.
