Ruth (jsbrighteyes) | 6 comments I have a question to pose to those of us who purchase library dicards, does anyone have a good way to remove the stickers from the spine, back cover, etc.? I have learned how to remove store stickers (except when it's been stuck to a hard bound book so long that it wants to tear the cover, grr!), but haven't attempted these. Is it even possible? Please help and thank you in advance.

Paulfozz I've had luck removing very difficult stickers with a can of label remover spray on shiny covers, but would be reluctant to try it on anything absorbent.

Melissa | 363 comments I've heard good stuff about Goo Gone Sticker Lifter. I haven't used it yet, I haven't found it locally yet.

MissJessie | 37 comments Goo Gone (plain ole) works well often. Esp. on slick covers.

Also, rubbing with an eraser (pink kind) sometimes works.

Clara | 1 comments I belong to a group that collects and cleans up donated books. A great way to remove a sticker is to use a blow dryer to warm up the sticker and remove. also all the other suggstions above.

Karen M | 418 comments I never thought about removing stickers on used books. Sometimes the stickers are like a history of where that book has traveled.

Ashley Marie man I remember loving the crap out of Borders books because their stickers peeled right off. those were the days.

Virginia Rand Library alarm stickers are designed to be a lot harder to remove. Often you just get the plasticy layer off and the metal mechanism gets left behind. :-(

The problem for me comes when they don't deactivate them when they discard them. You can never go into a library without thinking about what you have in your bag.

K | 286 comments I tend to just leave stickers on. No harm, no foul.
