This is the first book in the series where Harry's story is in first person narrative. Did it make a difference? (The author felt he should use this narrative style as long as he's not a police detective.)

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I really didn't even notice the change from third person to first person in this series. It didn't make a difference to me.

There were moments when he gave us his feelings in the moment. One specifically was at the end where he saw two paths to take when he discovered Maddie. It wasn't speculative as to which he would choose or if he'd later make Eleanor atone for keeping the child a secret. He told us he was choosing that brighter path permanently.

There were others (when he was hurt by Kiz's reaction and continued to let it weigh on him) but none more powerful as this one.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Other than the fact that I had to listen to the book rather than read it, it didn't really make that much difference to me either.

I enjoyed Len Cariou's narration very much.
