Historical Fictionistas discussion

I have just read Memoirs of a Byzantine Eunuch and found it very engrossing. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any other works of historical fiction about eunuchs or in which eunuchs play a prominent role. They don't have to be set in the Byzantine period, any period or location -e.g ancient China - is fine.

It's been a while since I read anything in this series, but I enjoyed Jason Goodwin's The Janissary Tree where the Inspector is a eunuch (mid-1800s).

Anne Rice's Cry to Heaven is about at least one eunuch, but I think more.

The series about John, the Eunuch by Mary Reed should fit the bill: One for Sorrow

I think that Weina Dai Randel's The Moon in the Palace and The Empress of Bright Moon include eunuchs.

So does Pawn in Frankincense—very different time and place, but wholly enjoyable even though it's #4 in a series (no need to read 1-3 first).

Equal of the Sun by Anita Amirrezvani (16th-century Iran) and River God by Wilbur Smith (ancient Egypt) are both narrated by eunuch characters.

I read that too, but wasn't that enthusiastic about it. How are the others in the series?
