Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I have found myself recently enthralled with amazon's boxed sets

Bad Boys of the Night Eight Sizzling Paranormal Romances by Jennifer Ashley Taming The Vampire by Mandy M. Roth

Sometimes they are like novellas where it is essentially a short story but sometimes they are closer to novels.

I like them because of the price and I feel like I can read new authors.
I was wondering if anyone reads these and if they have any recommendations for ones which are a great value.

Tina Bartz | 678 comments A lot of the boxed sets are also available for the Nook. I preordered Taming the Vampire in September and it is now on my Nook. I like these box sets for the same reasons you do.

I ordered Taming the Vampire about the same time :-)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I think if you are looking to for all the books and the price is right it's a great deal to get the series. But my fear is that I won't like book #1 and then I'm out the money on the rest of them.

Sandra | 4736 comments I find a lot of them are $0.99US which makes them about $1.32 for me. Very cost effective if I'm looking for specific stories.

I've usually got to check which stories are in them against my lists cause I've frequently got a lot of them then I've got to weigh up do I need it & the price.

I can understand your hesitation with regard to box sets of a series, or part of a series, especially if the sets are expensive. But, a box set of books by different authors, for $.99 or $1.99 is a good, fairly inexpensive way to sample an author and/or series. Also, I have found that sometimes it is a very inexpensive way to get a story or novella in a series I have already started or wanted to try. Sometimes you just pay $.99 or $1.99 for several books when it costs much more for just one of the individual books in the set.

I have to do the same thing because it is very easy to end up with duplicates. That is one of the reasons I am happy I snatched up Taming the Vampire. It has new stories/novellas by several authors from series I already read.

Sandra | 4736 comments Yep, I picked up Taming The Vampire by Mandy M. Roth as well. It's got a lot of authors I already read & these are all new stories. Win - win.
