Pamela wrote: "North and South"Hi Pamela. having a quick look through the types of books you've read; you seem to have interest in many genres.
personally, I like Wilbur Smith as an author. When the Lion Feeds is an interesting and well paced book that has a solid story to start with.
Being the author of "North", Set in the top end of Western Australia; Apart from enjoying writing, I also think it is original with a nice story where relationships are as important as the story.
Have a look - if your interested. Your feed back would be welcome. Cheers, Paul : )
I can't stand North and South. I found it to be so mind-numbing boring, I felt like my IQ dropped. I had to toss it on the never to be touched again abandoned books list. I know some people love the book but nope, I just couldn't do it. I was worried War and Peace would be like it but I'm actually pleased with War and Peace (as long as it isn't in the boring war parts).

my name is Michael and I love to read.
Can anyone suggest a book along the following lines:
- about an historical event
- both sides talking about the same event - e.g. like with books by Jeff Shaara, or (to a lesser degree) Robert Conroy, or...
- best would be: not only the 2 sides (e.g. Generals, Soldiers and Civilians from each side) - but also how historians nowadays see it and its context" - and also propaganda texts from each side (to give you a chuckle).
I´ve heard of a famous japanese movie from the 60ies (I do not remember the name) in which the same story is told six times time - but every time from the viewpoint of a different character.
Can you suggest some books?
Bye
Michael
