Q&A with Penelope Douglas *CLOSED*

Girl, you write wonders <3 I means seriously how do you write such masterpieces! But well with my question.
When we wil get the publishing date for Kai's book?? I CAN'T WAIT.

I love Michael! And more recently, Misha :) Can't wait for Kai's story!

I was wondering, do you have a special place where you can just sit and get inspiration for your books? Or do they come wherever you are?

Do some secondary characters demand a book of their own while you write? How do you decide who gets one and who doesnt?!

She's so so perfect in her own way with her flaws and imperfections and her doubts about herself.

Hi Penelope!! Have you ever thought about writing a sports romance?
Also what are your favorite go to snacks when you are writing?
Also what are your favorite go to snacks when you are writing?

Ps. I loved Corrupt a lot and I was one of many who wanted Kai's book (Punk 57 was also really great) :)

Love all your books!

If you could colaborate with any other author who would you choose and why?"
Hey!
I would love to write a story with JR WARD (yeah, long shot). I love paranormal, and I love the way she weaves a series over such a length of time, so you can stay with the characters for a while.
Also, Stylo Fantome. I think she's just what I need to get a little darker with some of my work;)

Hi, Poppy!
I'm hoping for March. It's the only book I'm working on now, but the Devil's Night books have a very complicated story with them and they take longer to craft. It will definitely be early next year, though.

Thanks, Mercedes!
As far as a writing hard limit, my concerns are more shallow, I guess. I don't like beards, so I'm not sure I'll ever write a leading man with one. Lol. Anything else, I'm really open as long as it's necessary.
I had a character who was sexually abused as a child and when it came time to write it, I really hated putting that material in a romance novel. I think there's a fine line between abuse and assault being compelling and just plain hard to read. I wanted it to be compelling, but I didn't want it to be hard to read, so I had to find a way to navigate that line that wouldn't make it too painful for readers. I hope I did, anyway. As long as I can find a way to deal with hard material in a way I'm comfortable with, I'll do it.
And yes, I've mostly written love-hate, because I LOVE it, but I would love to try paranormal and even sci-fi/dystopian someday. Those books take longer to plan, so it would be a long time coming, but I'm interested in branching out.
Thanks for the questions!

Hey, Verna!
It's coming, that's all I can say right now. ;) Kai is more methodical than Michael, so it's hard to write a calm character who seethes without punching, growling, or balling his fists. I'm used to the volatile boys. Lol
Hopefully in March, but no definite date yet!

What's your process on writing your novels? Does it flow out or do you plan it ahead of time? Is it easy for you to write in the male's POV?

There was an interesting tidbit in the end of Corrupt about Damon hiding in St. Petersburg. I have a feeling that Russian mob is going to be involved. Am I right?

The shower!! I'm relaxed, alone, and the noise of the water helps clear my head. The most important thing is having a quiet place with no distractions and TIME. It takes a while for my brain to start settling and start turning around the story.
xoxo

Yes, providing one in particular doesn't get himself killed with his awful behavior ;)

Hi!!
Well, I submit the book to my editor and keep rereading and editing while she's doing her own edits. Once she sends the book back, I usually need 2-3 weeks to go through all of her edits and rewrite suggestions. We go back and forth a few times, seeing how changes are working, and after everything is fixed, I'll read the book in it's entirety a couple more times. Then I'll send it to the copy editor, reread it with her changes, then the proofreader for a grammar and spelling check (and I'll reread it again). And then they'll send me the whole book printed out, and I reread it one last time before it's off to formatting and print.
Looooong process ;)

When I wrote the book, it was Jared Padalecki, Season 2-3 of Supernatural (before his hair got too long). Now, I just kind of see a brown-haired faceless guy in my head.

That's what happened with Corrupt. It was supposed to be a stand alone, but Kai, Will, and Damon were just too interesting! If I was interested in them, they get a story.
Now, there are lots of stories I want to tell, but I'm so loaded with books to write, I just don't know if I have the time. I'm already booked for the next 2-3 years with writing. I can't commit to more right now. I'll have to wait and see if those characters, like the side ones from Punk 57, are still talking down the road.
xoxo

I loved seeing the Corrupt characters guest star in Punk 57. Was it always your plan to have Punk 57 as part of the Corrupt universe? And who was your character inspiration (or closest lookalike) for Misha?
Love your work. All the best.

Corrupt remains my top read of 2016 but damn if Punk 57 didn't give it a run for the money. I love the surprise tie-in between, nicely done, and as a reader I was so happy to get a piece of my other storyline weaved in.
How do you decide which signings to attend?
Thank you for your time and sharing your creative, clever and amazing writing gift with us.

I love all your books and really enjoy the genre you continue to write in but my question is have you considered writing in other genres? Specifically paranormal?

Thanks for the chance, If you could spend the say with anyone, Dead or alive for one whole day who would you choose.
thank you xxxx

I wanted to ask what your favourite genre to write is and what your fave genre to read is? And why?
P.S. Huge fan. Love all your work.
Thank you!!
~Ali :)

Huge fan here. :) Of all the books that you have written, what book is your most favorite?
Love,
Pearl

I've heard amazing things about your books and I am so excited to jump in and read myself! I've also heard that your books take on some dark subjects, so my question is: how do you prepare yourself to write about it? What is the hardest subject that you have written about so far?
xoxo, Morelia
