This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Thanks.

Amber Martingale Three of the books from last month's list will ultimately be replaced in this month's list.

That's OK. I can wait.

Amber Martingale Getting ready to post my list now.

message 6: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale List is up and I checked all the URLs to be sure they worked.

message 7: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments I will be back tomorrow with votes for you fine folks. :-)

message 8: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Although A Time to Dance, a Time to Die: The Extraordinary Story of the Dancing Plague of 1518 by John Waller is leading with 4 votes, I still need votes from Agnieszka and Perri.

message 9: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (penn_y_lane) | 547 comments I now have a tie :)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Amber wrote: "Although A Time to Dance, a Time to Die: The Extraordinary Story of the Dancing Plague of 1518 by John Waller is leading with 4 votes, I still need votes from Agnieszka and Perri."

Strange, I voted a few minutes after you posted your list for 'A Pirate's Night Before Christmas' - I don't undertand why you can't see it!

message 11: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Perri...it is my first time reading! I am going to read it all this year coming :-) Slightly behind, no? I'd never even heard of Harry Potter ;-) LOL

message 12: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I don't either, Agnieszka, but I'll take your word for it and add it to my list if I donlt see it.

Amy: How old are you? I'm not sure there's ANYONE who can truly claim to have NOT heard of Harry Potter.

message 13: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I owe Agnieszka an apology. I did get a vote from her. It was just Perri's vote I was missing. Added your votes, too, Perri and Amy.

message 14: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Hahah I was just kidding, Amber! You'd have to be buried under a deep rock in the ocean to not have heard of the boy wizard.

message 15: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Amy wrote: "Perri...it is my first time reading! I am going to read it all this year coming :-) Slightly behind, no? I'd never even heard of Harry Potter ;-) LOL"

Also, Perri, how come you're not participating this month? Your options are missed! Always a great selection from you.

Dana (US) don't forget to vote for mine. It may cause a tie. <3

message 16: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments I'm so excited for you to read them Amy! I feel like I was just a baby when I read #2, but I still remember how happy it made me

message 17: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1126 comments I loved the Harry Potter box. Super excited to go and see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them next weekend too! :)

message 18: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Good point, Amy. Maybe Perri just hasn't gotten his choices posted yet? It's a possibility, but not a likely one, I admit.

Wow! Amazing! Even people in North Korea have heard of Harry Potter!

message 20: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale LOL

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Lol I truly feel love for all of you. You make me laugh. I do hope some oldies come back soon, like Chelsea. And I wish Christine & Jean would join in, they'd just love it here. You're all great fun!

M. Perri! Where's your selections hahhah ;-)

message 22: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Kirsten *Don't Blame Me I Voted for Hillary" wrote: Wow! Amazing! Even people in North Korea have heard of Harry Potter!

Hahah I was just kidding, Kirsten! I most definitely heard of little old Harry and the gang. I loved book one. Endearing and beloved works she wrote with all its glory.

You had a tough selection being they were all highest rated. The Nightingale is my ^ as well in my list. Maybe we will get a read in together this year if it's not your most voted. I just bought it earlier this year.

message 23: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Looks like it just might be Harry Potter for the win this month. Unless anyone else joins in the voting.

message 24: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments OMG, Amy, I'm so excited for you to be reading HP for the first time.

I'm in Indiana for a couple of weeks visiting family for the Holiday, and not online as much as usual, plus being away from my library. So just voting this month when I have access to a puter. But I'm very thankful for my Thriller family and shout out to the PIFM gang :)

message 25: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis Have fun with the fam, Perri!

message 26: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) If you haven't voted for me, please do!

message 27: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (penn_y_lane) | 547 comments Two more votes and a tie again lol I think I've had all my votes so far too so will need a tie breaker.

Anyone else joining in this month??

message 28: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments Amy said, '...Harry Potter for the win...'

It would be a lovely book for a Christmas time read
(which is why I voted for it!)

message 29: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments Looks like I will be continuing on with the Rizzoli & Isles series.. but I think I will still read A Christmas Carol for the first time ! And hopefully it will get me in the Christmas spirit.

message 30: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments I don't know if I've ever read it, Dana! I just might read it too. I feel like I must have in my youth, but can't remember. We put up a friend of mines tree last week, because she's an engineer and will be working a straight month on a shutdown so we put it up early. We watched some Christmas movies to get in the spirit.

message 31: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments That sounds like a lot of fun! I think I might start this week/weekend if I am motivated, but watching a Christmas movie will definitely help

message 32: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I hope your family leaves off on politics this year, Perri.

message 33: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Thanks, Perri! I really thought I'd have the series (Harry Potter) read by the end of the year. But travelling and visiting my family for two months had me not reading much at all. Def this year. As if I wasn't the last person on earth (at least almost), to have read it anyhow.

I hope you have the best time visiting your family in Indiana. I really must visit some more of the states.

message 34: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments Janet! How come your awesome spirit doesn't come join in your very own thread?! It be nice to have you in here more than just the work you do for it every month. :)

message 35: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments VOID is coming out as a front runner.
I knew David was a popular author in this group, so I suppose that's not such a surprise.

Is that gentle persuasion, Amy?! :-D

I'll see what I can do for the New Year. :)

message 37: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments @Amber, I have a politically divided family, so we're for sure treating the subject gingerly. No food fights here!

@ Amy, what parts of the US have you visited? IN isn't a much of a tourist destination, but that's where my family lives <3

message 38: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale It's the physical fights that I'm more worried about. Food fights can be fun...except for the clean up.

message 39: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Agnieszka wrote: "Patricia,

Intrusion looked so lonely and there is no danger you'll get a tie so I had to vote for this one ;-)

Sorry, just no time the last two months to add my votes.

message 41: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments I've just started Void.
Really like the bit at the beginning about the lilac diary - I think this is going to be good...

message 42: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Sorry to hear that, Sean.

message 43: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale I am officially closing my list to votes today. I will be choosing my 2 books in the next five minutes.

message 44: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale If Inter library Loan is unable to find my 2nd place winner, The Hopi Survival Kit, I will be using my 3rd place winner as as my 2nd book.

My 3rd place runner up is called The Alehouse Murders.

message 45: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments Has anyone read any Daniel Silva? I have not but I keep seeing The Black Widow popping up everywhere and I wonder if it's any good?

message 46: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments Never heard of that series, which is weird since there are 16 books..

message 47: by Ann (new)

Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments re. The Black Widow hmmm, well, next time I see it on offer, I think I might get it...

message 48: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Ann wrote: "Has anyone read any Daniel Silva? I have not but I keep seeing The Black Widow popping up everywhere and I wonder if it's any good?"

I loved the first book in the series, whose main character is Gabriel Allon. But I disliked The English Assassin. I lost interest after that, although I do have The Black Widow ebook.

message 49: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale One of my choices is on it's way. Forgot the title, but it's about the "Dancing Plague."

message 50: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (penn_y_lane) | 547 comments I am going to read I'm Travelling Alone by Samuel Bjørk first and as I have two weeks off I might read the other winner Snow White Must Die (Bodenstein & Kirchhoff, #4) by Nele Neuhaus too :)
