It's a fantasy novel, so the physics of it is a little unclear, but in the first book of the series, it was clear that the wings were intended to carry the wearer on long-distance flights, sort of like a hang-glider.

Yes, according to the author's website they are mechanical wings. That seems to fall under "a machine that is able to fly by gaining support from the air"

That appears to be a missile flying over a horizon- maybe water or sand below the atmosphere. There does not seem to be anything space-related. The book synopsis says: "a missile is heading right for Mecca on the first day of Ramadan.
That doesn't work.

Darn I totally missed that. Okay I'll find another.

From the book description: "This is the full-bodied novel of what happened when a colonial starship crashlanded on that uncharted planet."

I'm sorry, I thought since it was a cover related task that it would be best to have a book verified rather than have an issue down the road when claiming the book for the task.

It seems like front portion of rocket, but I am not sure about it.
Thanks.

There's not enough detail to confirm that it is an aircraft, sorry it doesn't work.
