Original version had a subtitle.

I wouldn't say putting the words "A novel of suspense" after the title constitutes a subtitle. A lot of books will say "Title: A Novel", but that's not really a subtitle, more of a descriptor of sorts. Perhaps there's another book you could use for this? Maybe something nonfiction you've been wanting to read? They often seem to have subtitles. Just a suggestion! Happy reading!

Chinook | 731 comments I have (for now) slottedHow Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character into this prompt. I listened to the audiobook and at a stretch children could be a family member name, so it may get moved around depending on other options. It would work well as a career advice book too (though I've filled that) and depending on how you define difficult, this is a hard subject and one that resists easy answers (education and opportunity for poor children) though it's not a particularly upsetting read.

Evelyn | 30 comments I just finished Turner Classic Movies: The Essentials: 52 Must-See Movies and Why They Matter. Is a list of the essential movies from 1927-1984, why they are important, and what scenes to look for.

Ooh (off topic, but...) what are some of the "must see" classic movies? I've been putting together a list of classics to watch with my kids.

Actually, I just put it on hold at my library, so no need to list any! Thanks for telling us about this book :-)

I don't know what the book recommends, but depending on the ages of your kids, I highly recommend In the Heat of the Night. It's superbly written and acted, and represents a watershed moment in the movement for black rights. My brother and I watched it on a whim knowing next to nothing about it, and almost fell off the couch during One Significant Scene! That was four years ago and we still talk about it sometimes, which I consider the mark of a truly great experience.

Amanda Presotti | 23 comments i'm filing Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right by Jane Mayer for this prompt, and it was an amazing read. This book was nominated for Best Nonfiction for the Goodreads 2016 reading awards or whatever it is called.

Jo (allweatherreader) | 50 comments Can recommend Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by Lindy West; I listened to the audiobook and it was ace. Not sure if I'm counting it for this or the audiobook task yet but it was really good.

Hi there!! I was wondering whether Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann would work. What do you think? Btw I'm loving it, so I'll definitely recommend it to everyone I can.

Aleesha | 4 comments I read The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America

This book details the government's role in residential segregation, outlining the policies and practices that, although now outlawed, perpetuate segregation even today. It is a powerful tool. Anyone who ignorantly believes we have done enough as a society to ensure equal opportunity for black people in America should read this. We are far from done.

Yes I think so. The subtitle isn't carried through on the Goodreads title for some reason, but there is a subtitle printed on the cover, and I'd say that counts!

Yes. Any book with something after a colon is a subtitle.
