Ollie (duhmayo) Hey folks, I'm looking for a book for my sister. As the title describes, she's 13, queer, Latina, and her parents recently divorced. She's not a super avid reader yet (though she does like comics/graphic novels), but she has been looking for a sense of community and an outlet for everything she's feeling. Feel free to check out my shelf "for jess" for what I already have as ideas (I still need to read most of them). Any recommendations will be helpful! Thank y'all!

Rez Delnava (rez_delnava) I was gonna rec' Lumberjanes since I can't keep it on my shelves, but I see you have that on your shelf already.

Almost everything else on my list of queer/female lead characters, I would personally be hesitant to hand to a 13y/o.

Hopefully others have a rec' or two.

Rainbowheart | 719 comments Spit and Passion, graphic novel with queer Latina MC. She's 12 when the story starts.

So Hard to Say, Latina MC with divorced parents, closeted gay dad, and unrequited gay boy crush/friend.

Country Girl, City Girl, 13 year old queer girl MC.

More ideas....

Lesbian tween fiction

Recommendations for 11-year-old

QPoC YA/NA (but not all of these are appropriate for a 13 year old)

Kaje Harper | 17370 comments I hope you're getting some good recs. I'm going to move this thread to the "Book Related Banter" folder where hopefully people will continue to add to it.

Kaje Harper | 17370 comments You might also look at the thread someone started for an 11-yr-old lesbian girl, if she tends to read younger not older - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 7: by Ollie (new)

Ollie (duhmayo) Thank you all very much! @Kaje - yes, sorry, so many options I didn't know where to put this thread. Thanks!
