We’re dusting this 2012 challenge off, tweaking it a bit, and giving it a new look. Yup, we did it before NBRC, so we’re not “swiping” their idea. Enjoy!
    SMILEY MUSIC
Remember that song from A Sound of Music, “My Favorite Things”? (view spoiler) Can you think a few things you love about this time of the year? They don’t have to be limited to “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...” but, whatever you choose, find them on or between book covers and tell us. (Yes, this is really a “Free-for-All” Scavenger Hunt.)

DURATION: December 1 through 31, 2016

RULES: Read books that depict your favorite things; it could be an item on the cover, or be in a scene of a book you read. (Like a love scene in a carriage ride.)   Be sure to indicate your reasons! Remember, you may replace any spot with a book from one of the Birthday Babes’ Bookshelves. Also, please keep track of your read count.

LEVELS:
1-2 - Easy
3-5 - Medium
6-9 - Harder
10 or more - Hardest
SPELL-IT-OUT OPTION:
Use any word that reminds you of Christmas or the holidays and spell it out with the books you read. Just a few suggestions:
Santa, candy, snow, ski, bell, gift, holly, gold, green, tree, light, party, pie, cold...
Use book titles or series names, author’s names (first or last), or even character names and spell-it-out. You may ignore the first indefinite (“a” “an”) or the first definite (“the”) articles.
Example: We used all new books that are coming out in December. This is not a requirement for you.

Molly (molly32) | 104 comments I'm done with the challenge - I loved Lauren Graham's sort of memoir and the rest of the books were fun, lighthearted historical escapes, although slightly forgettable, they were the perfect distraction from the busy and sometimes stressful holiday season. Happy New Year, everyone!
