Kris (kmell33) | 122 comments I didn't do very good on the 2016 challenge but I read more classics than I had in previous years so I'm going to consider it a win. I'm really excited about the 2017 challenge and am carrying over some of my unfinished 2016 choices.

Old School
1. The Count of Monte Cristo
2. The Moonstone
3. Wives and Daughters

New School
4. Rebecca
5. Mrs. Dalloway
6. Lonesome Dove

Wildcard 6
7. Anna Karenina
8. Stoner - Completed 1/29/17
9. Black Beauty
10. Jane Eyre
11. Around the World in Eighty Days
12. Great Expectations

Alternate
13. Shōgun
14. A Little Life

Amanda (tnbooklover) Wow you have some really good books on here. I loved Mrs Dalloway, Stoner, and A Little Life. All 5 star reads for me.

Brina Kris glad to see you want to read Lonesome Dove. Your other choices look interesting. Good luck with this.

Melanti | 1894 comments You've got some good picks on here.
I'm curious how you like Shogun. My friend tried to get me to see the movie, but I just never got around to watching it.

Loretta | 2200 comments I've never read Shōgun but nominated it last month. I did see the movie and I enjoyed it very much. :)

Pink | 5491 comments You've picked some great books for your challenge and quite a few that I'd still like to read. I'm looking forward to finally reading The Count in 2017 :)

Kris (kmell33) | 122 comments I made a couple of adjustments to my list.

I wanted to squeeze in more Bronte so I decided to change out Vilette on this list (still on my Women of the Century challenge) and add Jane Eyre. I also wanted to get at least one piece of Russian literature so added Anna Karenina.

Kris (kmell33) | 122 comments Finished my 1st book of my 2017 challenge. I read Stoner and really enjoyed it. It was a wonderful character study and it kept me interested throughout.

I always think of myself as enjoying a more plot driven story but with Stoner the character kept me coming back for more. I would definitely recommend this to others.

Good to know that you recommend this. It has been on my TBR for a long time, but it seems to get such mixed reviews.
