Good morning! Thank you for joining us this month for our Online Nonfiction Book Club! My name is Marcella and I will be leading the discussion for the month of December.

This month, we are reading the book "Walking to Camelot: A Pilgrimage through the Heart of Rural England" by John A. Cherrington. This book is a journalistic reflection of two friends walking the Macmillian Way, a 300 mile-long romp, with nothing more than backpacks and walking sticks.

The book is available on several different formats and you can reserve your copy today by using the following link: http://bit.ly/2gD4wC8

I hope that you enjoy reading this enlightening traveler's account this month and I am looking forward to discussing it with you. You're always welcome to share your thoughts and comment on any of the discussions!

To get us started, is there any adventure that you've always wanted to go on? If you could choose anywhere in the world to journey through - where would that be?

~Marcella~

Kathryn | 2 comments Hi Marcella!

This is a great question. There are so many places I've always wanted to go. At the top of my list are a transatlantic cruise, a tour of the ancient Egyptian sites, Japan in general and a road trip across the U.S. I'd also love to do a long walking tour somewhere since I love hiking, but I'm not sure where. Someplace with great scenery, like Scotland or Iceland maybe!

Marcella | 8 comments All those sound like great ideas Kathryn! The more I read this book, the more I'd love to try a walking tour (though I'd need to wear in some really good shoes first!) I also have this weird love of ghost towns. I'd love to go on a ghost town tour!

Kathryn | 2 comments I think there are quite a few ghost towns in the US! The book Atlas of Lost Cities: A Travel Guide to Abandoned and Forsaken Destinations has quite a few good suggestions.

I think doing a themed tour like ghost towns would be fun. Or something like a chocolate tour of Paris, or famous landmarks like the statues of Easter Island. The world is such an interesting place!

Anne Vandermey | 11 comments I have always loved history, so I would probably love to explore England more, there is so much to see!

Great suggestion Kathryn! That sounds like a book I could get into!

I agree Anne, North America has its share of interesting history but it doesn't hold a candle to everything you could explore in England and the rest of Europe.
