For 2017 I am aiming lower than ever for my yearly goal. My life has been getting busier and busier and I am starting to have other interests (like photography). I am also being more specific in tracking other things (like gender of author, books owned pre-2017, etc.). I'm also grouping things by quarter instead of by month. I've turned into such a mood reader that I just want a little more breathing room with some of my goals and plans.

For 2017 I am reading 140 books. That is the same number I have already read this year. I have 75 books on my want to read list and I hope to read 38 of those this year.

I am super pumped for the new year! I had a pretty good year of reading in 2016, but I'm ready to look forward and have a fresh start.

There are a few books that I want to read in January. I first want to finish Twinmaker. I am currently only 32% through so I don't feel like that's cheating.

I also want to try reading American Gods. This is probably one of the few books that is a bit daunting for me. I still don't feel like I'm 100% out of my reading slump from October so I hope American Gods isn't too hard for me to get through.

I'm trying to balance out some of the harder reads with some light fun ones. I also want to read William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope and The Sun Is Also a Star. I'm also planning on continuing my reread of the Harry Potter series with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

January was a way more successful reading month than I expected! I was able to read 14 books! I haven't read that much since last September! I think my reading slump is officially over. lol (thank goodness)

I am currently reading A Dance with Dragons and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. They're both group reads so they're a bit slower going than if I was just reading them without a discussion (if that makes sense).

I'm also reading Vampire Academy (more so a reread) to kind of lighten the load. I've been reading so much fantasy and so many bigger books I need these lighter/fluffier books in between so I don't burn out again.

For February, there's only a couple books I'm really hoping to get to:
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams → group read
The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks → buddy read

I still have some on my quarterly TBR that I may attack this month as well:

February wasn't too bad of a reading month! I didn't really get to most of the books I anticipated reading, but I can't really complain since I got a lot of other books read!

I am STILL struggling my way through A Dance with Dragons and have been struggling a bit with The Sword of Shannara. Adult fantasy is definitely not my friend right now!

I don't really have a game plan for March yet. I know I'm a bit behind in my review book goal and my male author goal so I may try to focus on those two goals for most of the month. I know I'll be reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for a group read! That's about all I know so far. lol

March was a better reading month than I anticipated! I was able to read 8 books and get a good chunk of some challenges done. I didn't really get to most of the books on my TBR for this quarter, but I did get almost half of them read so it works!

I am still SLOWLY reading A Dance with Dragons (about 60% through now!). It's getting easier now that it's primarily new material so that helps. I'm also still working on my Harry Potter series read-a-long.

I haven't really picked what I want to read in April yet, but I know I need to read The Elfstones of Shannara for a buddy read.
