Marie Silk | 611 comments I had an email from Goodreads today with the subject line "Updates from Authors you follow". I don't recall seeing an email like this before, so I opened it and found 78 blog posts from authors I follow here on Goodreads. Usually I see these on my homepage. I always scroll all the way down to the last update I saw to make sure I don't miss anything. But somehow I missed 78 blog posts ??? Now I am worried that hardly any followers will see my blog posts. I guess I assumed that it went on everyone's homepage. Is this new or am I just now noticing it? Is it like Facebook: sometimes you see it, sometimes you don't?

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 241 comments Did you not see those posts? I think it is just an email for people like me who don't look at our homepage that much because I come to Goodreads to engage. I get the email once a month and have been getting it for about a year now.

I didn't even know that the author blog posts showed up on my homepage, lol. I just always saw updates of who was reading what from all my followers and that's not why I come to Goodreads, so I rarely go to my homepage anymore.

Marie Silk | 611 comments I did not see any of the posts from the email on my homepage which is where I usually see them.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) Yeah, I've been getting that email for years. I tend to ignore it because again, I can see all of that on my feed. If you aren't seeing it, you may want to check your feed settings to make sure blog posts are included. Also if you have set your feed to only show "top friends," then anyone who hasn't been checked as a top friend won't appear.

Marie Silk | 611 comments Within the last few weeks, discussion posts began appearing on my homepage. I hadn't seen any of those since Goodreads revamped the homepage months ago.

On my settings, I've had it on "see everything" and "all friends and people I follow". I know how much effort can go into a blog post, so I'm kind of bummed if they are not even showing :-/ I wondered if they were replaced on the homepage with discussion posts.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) I doubt it. The discussion posts are back likely because people were upset when they took them away. If it makes you feel better, I'm seeing your blog posts. It may also be possible that what you are seeing in the email are older posts since they send out a digest. Every so often Goodreads formatting goes a bit wonky and I'll see an old post listed as new.

And then Christina comments on the post and you start getting all kinds of people chiming in on something you wrote almost two years ago, and you're like WTF?

I mean, I'm guessing that kind of thing could happen.

Marie Silk | 611 comments Haha, nice one, J. Daniel :)

Thank you Christina, that makes me feel a little better. Just when I thought I had this goodreads thing figured out... :D
