How quickly do you plan to read it? Once this is moved to the active folder, we'll be able to comment and discuss it on there, right? I've never done one of these before!

Yes, we'll be able to comment and discuss here. I'm not sure how fast I'll be able to read because I need to study for some exams, but I guess I'll try to finish in a week or so. I checked that there are 24 chapters in the book, so I will probably try to write some comments after every 8 chapters.

Okay, I have now read 8 chapters and here are some of my thoughts:

So far (view spoiler)[ I like this book. I really want to know, why Lissa and Rose left the academy in the first place. I also want to know who left that dead fox in Lissa's room and why. (hide spoiler)]

I like both (view spoiler)[ Rose and Lissa. At the moment I think Rose is a bit more interesting than Lissa, so I like her character a little more. I like Rose's attitude. She can be quite funny at times. (hide spoiler)]

I'm (view spoiler)[ pretty sure Lissa and Christian will fall in love or something. I kind of like Christian and I don't think he's dangerous or crazy like Rose seems to think. (hide spoiler)]

16 CHAPTERS

So much (view spoiler)[ happened in the last eight chapters. :D Lissa's ability to heal is obviously quite rare among Moroi. I understand that using her powers is driving her crazy and making her depressed and all that, but why is it so important that no one knows about her healing powers? That's something I don't get. Would the Moroi force her to use her powers in the battle against the Strigoi or something like that? (hide spoiler)]

I think Lissa (view spoiler)[ is more interesting now than in the beginning of the book. She seems to have more personality now when she has to deal with everything that's going on in the academy. However, I don't really like the way she uses compulsion on other students. I understand she's doing it for Rose, but I still think it makes her look too eager for power and popularity. I didn't (view spoiler)[ like how Rose lied to Christian about Lissa. It was not her place to decide, whether Lissa should hang out with him or not. He may have a bad reputation, but it was still very selfish of Rose to lie to him. She knew Christian had a calming effect on Lissa and yet she decided to keep him away from her. (hide spoiler)]

There's so much (view spoiler)[flirting and everytime we meet a new male character the first thing that's mentioned how cute he is, like forgive me I love romance books but there's so much else going around I'm not really interested in his cute scale. I like Rose's character but I think she might overdue it a little too much. (hide spoiler)]

I was not (view spoiler)[ a big fan of the 'romance' between Rose and Dimitri. I was able to imagine Rose falling for an older man like Dimitri, but I just couldn't see him liking her back. It just felt sort of ridiculous to me. I'm happy that they didn't start dating or anything. Fortunately, Dimitri was smart enough to realize, how different their lives were when the book ended. It's also true that it may not be the best idea for Rose and Dimitri to date if they have to work together. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't expect (view spoiler)[ Victor to be the bad guy. I suspected he may be involved because I was pretty sure that Natalie was the one leaving the dead animals for Lissa. However, I didn't think it was just about healing Victor. I thought he would have had some bigger and less personal reason for kidnapping Lissa. (hide spoiler)]

Overall (view spoiler)[ I did quite like this book. However, I feel like most of the questions were answered and the ending was pretty neatly wrapped up, so I have no idea what will happen in the next book. Is there going to be some new evil threatening Lissa and Rose in the academy or will they be outside the academy for one reason or another? (hide spoiler)]

Hi. I was sneaking on the topic because I loove VA. The rest of the books tells the story of their life in the school,they learn more about Lissas magic and there will be new plots to explore. the first 3 books has standalone stories and some connecting ditto next 3.

Oh thanks for sharing Oda. I think I'll want to continue this series. Just have to find time for the next book. :D
