Jane Jago | 888 comments We're not talking 'who would you like to be?' No. This thread is a place for absolute honesty.
I know we'd all like to be Scarlett O'Hara or Jack Reacher or Sherlock Holmes or Modesty Blaise....

But most of us aren't.

My friends tell me the late great Terry Pratchett was thinking about me when he wrote Nanny Ogg. Apparently I drink too much, swear too much, and my singing is terrible... and I'm quite old and quite portly. Dog takes the place of Greebo...

Glamorous I ain't

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) You and me both! I'm probably a lot like Skeeve, the hapless clod... Er... Klahd that is, from Robert Asprin's Myth series. Much like Skeeve, I have no idea what I'm doing, little actual training, a lot of dumb luck, and any time I'm put in charge of something (which happens more often than one would like when one is a large and loud giant), I pretty much spend the whole time wondering when someone is going to call me out for being a total fraud. ;)

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments I was gonna say I'm the Old Woman who lived in a show with so many dogs instead of children... but hell no!! She was a nasty bitch!!!

Dwayne Fry | 4443 comments Mod
I dunno. Holden Caulfield, maybe?

message 5: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Bush | 57 comments Hm, probably Pierce Hawthorne from "Community". I'm getting old(er), I'm cranky, I don't usually get to be "in" the group, but I am tolerated, I sometimes speak my mind without a filter. Although, I'm not filthy rich like Pierce, or just rich, or even have any money, come to think of it. I do have five kids who think I have money, but that doesn't really count though, does it?.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) Dwayne wrote: "I dunno. Holden Caulfield, maybe?"

I nearly said Holden. He's totally a phony who tries to deflect how phony he is by calling out others as phony.

Michael P. Dunn (wordboy1) | 86 comments Jabba the Hutt...the resemblance is uncanny.

message 8: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 790 comments I have no clue. Let me sum up in a few words how I am and someone else can tell me what character that resembles.

I'm friendly but keep to myself, polite but will call something out if need be. Am a dreamer and appreciate the small things in life.

Hmm... I'm thinking a fantasy character like a Hobbit or an elf. I don't really know why, but that's what it sounds like.

Thomas Everson (authorthomaseverson) | 424 comments I've been thinking on this one since you posted the thread, and it's a very difficult question!

My wife would say Neo from The Matrix, but I think that's her projecting her fondness of Keanu Reaves on me. Haha.

I'm going to go with John Crichton from Farscape. Part action, part sarcasm, and a colorful use of humor and pop culture references in tense moments.

Micah Sisk (micahrsisk) | 1042 comments None really fit the bill ... Maybe Kilgore Trout from Vonnegut's writing, but only because I'm likely to die a total unknown in the SF world.

(And, no, I haven't published any SF short stories in dirty magazines...yet...do dirty magazines still publish SF short stories? If so and if you have any contacts, hey, I'm interested!)

message 12: by Rose (new)

Rose Collins | 10 comments I'll go with Iago, the parrot in aladdin.
I always end up having to do the biding of a sociopath employer or boyfriend. Like to think of myself as a colorful little birdie too.

message 13: by B.A. (new)

B.A. A. Mealer | 975 comments hmm, good question. I get so wrapped up in what I'm doing, I guess I'm sort of like Dora in Finding Nemo....who are you and what do you want? I'm not that forgetful but I do sort of drop out of life when I'm working on my writing as I get so into it, I don't even hear the phone ringing and it is right beside me. It is close to that when I'm reading a really good book, so I guess Dora would be a good comparison.

message 14: by Chris (new)

Chris Jags | 78 comments At this time of year, probably the Grinch. Except without the redemption part.

I bet many of us (including me) feels like Grinch this time of the year. lol

message 16: by Tamir (new)

Tamir A. Shaw (tamir_a_shaw) I'd have to go with Helen Parr aka Elastigirl. I am always being pulled in a million directions and I'd definitely fight to the death for my family and maybe humankind too. *great question*

Maybe the old guy from Up, Justin.

So funny, Rose!

message 20: by Owen (new)

Owen O'Neill (owen_r_oneill) | 1509 comments No idea. I have not encountered a fictional character that resembles me. If I did, I'd wonder why the author had such poor taste. And I wouldn't read the book.

Ha! You might be one of Dwayne's characters. That sounds a bit like Tempest Moody.

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there! Hahaha

message 24: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Vincent (kristinkitty) | 3 comments Since we're doing cartoons here, mine would be Meg from Disney's Hercules

message 26: by Tony (new)

Tony Nash | 29 comments At my (great) age, it is natural that a part of my character comes through in every novel. Recently, a friend read some of my books and emailed me to say that the expressions used and some of the characters in them took him back to the days when he worked for me years ago. I believe we all insert that little bit of ourselves in our works of fiction, and that is a good thing, which helps with authenticity, along with the huge amount of research one does to ensure that facts are accurate.

message 27: by Nat (new)

Nat Kennedy | 321 comments There are a number of cat girls in Japanese anime that I resemble closely, However, I can't really think of a character that pins me. Real humans are so much more lazy and yet so much more complex. I'll just go with Hermione Granger. (but not really).

message 28: by Erica (new)

Erica Graham (erica_graham) | 46 comments I am a simple muggle.
