How does the Marauder Map portray Voldemort on Quirrel's head on the map? Or Moody as Barty Couch Jr? Someone looking at the Marauders Map might see that it is strange and something isn't normal. What if the Marauders Map is wrong sometimes? How can it be completely accurate?

I'm not saying that the Marauders Map is wrong or anything like that, I'm just curious about that map. Please comment your opinions and knowledge about what you know about the Marauder Map :)

I always assumed that the Map only displays the name you would think of when seeing the actual person. So you wouldn't read Voldemort and see Quirrel, if you get what I mean. But... this is an interesting questin, because while thinking that I was always curious about the Scabbers/Pettigrew thing.

In "Goblet of Fire", Harry sees "Barty Crouch" in Snapes office (when he returns from the Prefects Bathroom). It is actually Barty Crouch Jr. searching through Snapes office to get the ingredients for the Polyjuice Potion. But Barty is in disguise as Mad-Eye Moody at the time. So obviously the map shows the real name. Same goes for Peter Pettigrew in "Prisoner of Azkaban". If it showed the name of the person they are disguising as, it should have showed "Scabbers" instead...

I agree.

Also look at how many students are at Hogwarts hundreds at least. In regards to Peter it's a name didn't mean anything to Harry, George or Fred at that time. It's possible one of them might have glimpsed "Peter Pettigrew" at some point while they had the map but thought nothing of it. Just some student they don't know.

But can I ask a question? For the case of Voldemort "living" on Quirrel's head and it is shown the Marauders Map. do you think the name will be shown as "Quirrel" or "Voldemort"?

I think Quirell, because he is the main embodiment, and Voldermort is like a parasite, living on him.
