2. What is your favourite sport? – Read a book that is either about your favourite sport or one of the characters plays that sport. You could also chose a book where the cover shows that sport.

3. What colour are your eyes? – Read a book where the colour of your eyes is the main colour of the cover, or the word is in the title.

6. What is your favourite book? – Read it again. Or, read a book that has the same title. Or read a book by the same author. If you can’t find the same title, or the author only has the one book, go to the book page and click on “Readers Also Enjoyed”. Select a book from the list.

7. Pick a number between 1 and 10. – Select a series and read the book that corresponds to that number. Or, read a book with the number in the title.

8. What is your favourite holiday? – Read a book that is about that holiday, set during that holiday, or has the name in the title.

Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments You're making great headway, Peg. Yes, the last book does fit the task. I have that one on my wishlist for that task.

message 9: by Peg (new)

Peg Thanks Janice. I always take progress when I can, because I know other activities are calling out. I can only hold them off for so long!
I really enjoyed reading Stiff, I hope you do too!

message 10: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Hi Peg - I enjoyed listening to Stiff: last year.

I love your book title and justification for "feature most complemented on". LOL!

message 11: by Peg (new)

Peg Thanks Cherie! Although I don't think I'll stay so literal as I continue on! lol!
You know, I am sure I am one of the few on here that have never listened to an audiobook. It may be because I'm a podcast junkie so when I have listening time, I go that route. Or maybe I'm just afraid of a new addiction!!!

message 12: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Too funny! I am the same way regarding Podcasts. I'm afraid I'll get addicted to them, so I haven't started. My daughter listens to them now and hasn't been reading at all.

message 13: by Peg (last edited Jan 21, 2017 09:28PM) (new)

Peg In a way that happened to me. I used to work long, crazy hours. I could fit in podcasts on my 30-45 minute drive in to work. Then I would also listen to them on my runs/walks in the woods. The only reading I was doing was related to work. Now, I'm back in the city after far too long. I no longer listen to anything when I'm out exercising because now that I have to worry about people in addition to wild animals, I need my wits about me! I have realized that not reading for pleasure ruined my balance and I'm really enjoying it right now! lol

I'll be reading that for the upcoming toppler under the "Books to Movie" task. The movie comes out the end of March.

What did you think of the book?

message 26: by Peg (new)

Peg Janice, I really enjoyed it. It gives you another story of the losses that war brings and also hope in other people. If you've read Gerald Durrell, it's along those lines in very descriptive writing. After I finished I wondered if the main focus was on the family, the animals or the war because it did seem to be a little separated when telling it, although it covers all points. I can see where this can be made into a movie because it's not a hard hitting non-fiction history book. It gives you a bit of feel good in a horrible setting. I'll be interested in hearing what you think!

message 27: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments Sounds encouraging. I was a little concerned that it might be depressing. I'll find out next week during the toppler.

message 28: by Peg (new)

Peg Well, the subject by nature is beyond depressing, and this book has it's moments. For me, it's not the depression that hits me when I'm reading, but the horrors. In this book, you get carried through them fairly quickly. The author herself is more of a naturalist than historian I believe.

message 29: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Janice - I listened to it as an audio book for last year's challenge, and I thought it was well done. I did not find it depressing. I thought it was interesting and agree with Peg, about the points that were covered.

I'm actually rereading a lot of his, although I did buy his latest norse gods, but I need a long quiet weekend for the first time I read him, usually it's an automatic reread!

Gunsights by Elmore Leonard
Gunsights

Question #48 Who do I miss? My father.
Explanation: He taught me how to shoot. He wanted me to be a hunter alongside him, but that wasn't to be, but I'm a great shot because of him. Not only this relates because of the use of guns, but also he left his family and moved us out to the west.

Sarah | 18550 comments Don't forget to put one completed book in each post, as opposed to two in one.

Oh and on Norse Mythology, I really want to read that. It's still a little expensive and my library doesn't have it yet. I also saw that Gaiman is bringing out a Neverwhere 2. He's only just started writing it so it might be a while before we see it. It doesn't show up on GR yet. On and whilst still on the subject of Gaiman, I see the TV series of American Gods is due to air in May.

message 37: by Peg (new)

Peg Thanks Sarah, I forgot. I apparently let everything slide during that tumble!
I know he takes forever to get his books out, always working on so many projects at once. I didn't know about him starting Neverwhere 2, I can't wait! I did know about the series. I'm always nervous watching on film a book I loved. I think I feel like it's trying to take all the parts I imagined while reading away from me!
And now to separate the books. I didn't make it back right away to add my final and get a badge!

Black Coffee

Question 38: Do you prefer tea, coffee, or water?
Coffee

message 45: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Black Coffee was going to be my read for question 38, but I found Happy People Read and Drink Coffee, which was okay, but I honestly liked the cover better than the story. I have seen mixed reviews for the HP #7 book. What did you think?

message 46: by Peg (new)

Peg I really didn't enjoy it. You could feel that it had been shorter, than poorly enhanced. It has the basic flavor of Agatha but otherwise pretty flat. My reading has been hit or miss lately, and I have been doing another group challenge, but it's not personal there so that was a help for me. I'm looking forward to picking this back up and rejoining, everyone here was always so positive and helpful!

message 47: by Peg (new)

Peg Since this is my own thread I'll post here. My husband had a toothache in Feb. from an impacted wisdom tooth. In March it was diagnosed Stage 4 cancer and I lost him in April. This has been incredibly fast and the solitude has helped me and now picking up my reading pace will too. I'm looking forward to gophering some books and attending a few topplers in the future.

message 48: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Oh, Peg, I am so sorry for your loss! Such a shock - and so quick. I have never heard of an impacted wisdom going to stage 4 cancer in two months.
