Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Greetings WYA members!

If you have been a member of this group for a while you know that historically we nominate authors then vote on them. Well in the past two or three years it feels like we have hit a rut, it seems like the same authors continue to be recycled. So to mix it up Sandra and I have decided to change things a bit. I am going to select two authors that we have not discussed in the past few years and hopefully, we can find new books and new authors. I have the lineup for the next six month but feel free to message me with a consideration. Either way I will check in around April and see what you all think.

If there are books that you would like to talk about I encourage you to post it on the buddy reads.

To kick off this new plan in a new year I thought it would be fun to visit the pioneers of PNR and UF: Christine Feehan and Anne Rice

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 127 comments That's a great idea!

(Though quite honestly I'm not a fan of either Christine Feehan and Anne Rice. Even when it was slim pickings for the genre.)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Anne Rice was good back in the day. She's managed to be one author I loved, but have broken up with. After she found God, she just got to be too screwy for me. Sad because the books that I have by her are so broken down from being read so many times.

That happened to a few other authors I liked.

She's always been hit or miss for me.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments There are a few more authors that I need to break up with too. But it's hard when they write series and I've invested so much time. I'm afraid I'll miss something.

Though I never fully clicked with her stuff.

I used to have that issue but I have recently let that go. When a series turns amazing again I feel like someone will let me know.

Same for me. I loved her pre-Christian books. Her Vampire Chronicles were my introduction into vampire fiction. It is a pity if a writers belief change the writing style drastically, or just feature to strongly in the story (like some of Terry Goodkind's books being more of an ode to Ayn Rand than a good fantasy story). I haven't read her beauty series yet, so I might give them a try as they are mostly from her pre-Christian period.

I've read many of Christine Feehan's books, mostly because they were what was available at the time. However they are very traditional romances in some ways, with very powerful alpha males and much less powerful women, not really my thing.

I thought those were just ok. They are pure erotica, just so you are aware.

Anne | 318 comments I like Anne Rice's werewolf series - great fun. Interview With the Vampire is still one of my favorites.

I have all of her erotica - still need to read it.

Was that the one where it was like an all out butt whooping festival, in the name of "training princes and princess"?

Something like that. The men are often "ponies" and pull carriages.
