This is the thread for the buddy read of The Winter's Tale by William Shakespeare. We will only be using one thread for the discussion, so please beware of spoilers.

Susie | 768 comments I'm in...started it yesterday...
So far, this one is pretty easy for me to follow and I am enjoying it...

Just saw this is listed to read in January...I guess I will be ready for the discussion ;)

Okay, I was planning on next Monday but will see if I can move it up.

I'm going to be out of town for a few days, so while I plan to start reading it while I am gone I most likely won't post anything until I get back.

Melanti | 1894 comments My Kindle is taking a vacation, so I started on this a little early.

My, it escalates quickly! They go from best friends to contemplating murder within the first ten pages.

I imagine we have to grab the penny pit viewers quick to keep them coming.

Melanti | 1894 comments Not his worst play, but I didn't find it satisfying.

There's a couple of pivotal scenes that just aren't there... One's missing entirely and the second is relayed second hand.

And, IMO, one stage direction is more memorable than all the other lines put together. That's not what I'd expect from most of his plays.

That was my exact reaction!

That one might be the most epic stage direction ever.

Sarah | 468 comments When I read King Lear in high school, I spent a great deal of time wishing to do violence upon Lear's person for his idiocy.
I am finding myself feeling the same urges towards Leontes.
