I read Red Rising and loved it. I bought this soon after but other books came up. Now is the time!

- What made you pick this book in 2016? Any reason you didn't read it?
I love historical fiction, and this book got rave reviews from press and friends alike. I started to read it, but had to return it to the library and never got back to it. I recently picked up a copy of my own, so now I have all the time I need!

- Which other book did you really want to read but didn't open last year?
Of course, there are always more books than time to read. Another one I meant to read last year was The Nightingale, which is also on my ATY list this year.

I picked this book for been a continuation of the series that I've been reading. The reason i didn't finished it last year was because, i don´t know, got bored or sidetracked of the story.

- Which other book did you really want to read but didn't open last year?
A few books actually, i always make a list of the books i want to read or enter a challenge with specifics titles in mind, but half way through i just get bored. Hopefully this year i get to finish.

It was free on Audible last year, I didn't read it then because I had other books on my shelves I wanted to get to.

I'm currently reading another book that I wanted to read last year: The Remains of the Day, I hope to get to the others on my physical neglected shelf pretty soon.

Last year, I read 2 classics per month. I selected this as one of my classics and started reading it but just couldn't get into it, so I put it down. I found it much more engaging this time around.

I loved The Girl with All the Gifts so I was really looking forward to this new book. It was in high demand at the library (like 20+ reservations!) so it took a long time to get my hands on it.

Lots. But in particular there are a few series that I have let lapse a bit long... Cress, Speaker for the Dead, An Echo in the Bone

What made you pick this book in 2016? Any reason you didn't read it?

I've been hearing good things about it for an eternity now and I desperately want to get tidy and organized. I didn't really have the time for it last year and also kept putting it off because I wasn't in a great place to actually act on any of the advice.

I wanted to read this book before watching the film. I actually started to read it last year, but never finished just because I got distracted by other things and then ended up watching the film anyway.

- Which other book did you really want to read but didn't open last year?
I also wanted to read Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier so that I would read it before watching the film that came out in 2014. I still have yet to watch it, but I have the book on my TBR list for this year's challenge.

I loved Ratner's debut novel In the Shadow of the Banyan, and I received an ARC of this in 2016. I couldn't get around to reading it, so put it in my challenge and it's set in Cambodia, where I'm headed this week. So perfect timing!

-Which other book did you really want to read but didn't open last year?

A decent portion of my challenge list is books I wanted or meant to read in 2016. Top of mind is The Underground Railroad, Life After Life and 11/22/63.

Had heard good things about it (and the title alone is amazing, IMO) but wasn't sure about paying full price for it because it's not my usual fare. Found it in a charity shop for 50p, took it home... and left it to languish on my TBR as other books came and went.

What made you pick this book in 2016? Any reason you didn't read it?
I'd heard good things about it, plus I'm big into the MCU and was interested to see how it would translate into a purely written format. I didn't read it because 1) I have had bad experiences with the author before, and 2) I had a million other books from the library that all had waiting lists. This one didn't, so I kept putting it off, renewing it and forgetting about it.

I picked it from my very large list of "books all English Lit majors should read/have read, but I haven't yet." I didn't get to it because of various distractions, including but not limited to: my toddler, MMORPG playing, and other books.

I had the feeling it was on every blog about books. Its cover kept drawing my attention. But I was not sure I would like it (I'm not very fond of dystopias), so I didn't want to buy it. And it was never available at my local library when I had time to read it.

- Which other book did you really want to read but didn't open last year?
Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I haven't read it yet for totally different reasons. Last year I read Purple Hibiscus by the same author. I loved it so much that I wanted to be sure to read this one when I could truly enjoy it and not feel rushed or guilty for reading instead of doing more "urgent" things. So I'm saving it for my next vacation time!
