Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion

I stumbled upon R. Lee Smith a few months ago and fell in love with her books. I'm a huge romantic but more than just the romantic plot, I need deep, fully fleshed out characters and rich, engaging, action-filled plots, preferably with a dark twist. Has anyone read R. Lee Smith, specifically Cottonwood or The Last Hours of Gahn?? I'd love a recommendation of a sci-fi romance that is similar. I've read all of R. Lee Smith's books and I need more lol. Any recommendations?

I've never read R. Lee Smith, but you could try my Shiva XIV series, if you feel like trying something new. There is plenty of depth and romance, and fleshed out characters, or so my reviewers have said. ;)
