Sankara Jayanth S (sankarajayanth) | 1158 comments I'm planning to read this classic in the first quarter of 2017. It's a pretty long book - 700+ pages based on the version you pick. So from January through to March. But I think it might take longer than 3 months since everyone of us will be reading other books each month. Let's see as we read along.

I've fallen in love with The Count of Monte Cristo by the same author and decided to read this book too.

Is anyone else interested in reading along?

People who are in:
Jayanth
Aparna (already half-way through)

Planned start date:
5 January, 2017

Description:
One of the most celebrated and popular historical romances ever written. The Three Musketeers tell the story of the early adventures of the young Gascon gentleman d'Artagnan and his three friends from the regiment of the King's Musketeers: Athos, Porthos, and Aramis.

Under the watchful eye of their patron M. de Treville, the four defend the honour of the regiment against the guards of the Cardinal Richelieu and the honor of the queen against the machinations of the Cardinal himself as the power struggles of 17th-century France are vividly played out in the background.

But their most dangerous encounter is with the Cardinal's spy: Milady, one of literature's most memorable female villains.

Jayanth, Monte Cristo was one of my earliest unabridged classics at the age of 12 or so. I was enthralled. it took me to a totally different world. I read it in Malayalam though. Want to read it in English some time.

Rebecca | 878 comments I read Monte Cristo too some time back. That is one book whose hiugeness was not in the way of enjoyment.
