Hello all - starting up discussions for the January 2017 BOTMs. This discussion is for the group's poll selection for the MODERN CLASSICS/POPULAR reads category: Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult.

This discussion will be spoiler-free. If you have already read the book and want to discuss, hop on over to the spoiler-filled discussion HERE .

Happy reading!
Kasey

Abby I've read one other book by Jodi Picoult and that's My Sister's Keeper. It was really good, so I look forward to picking this one up.

Mary Adgate | 14 comments My Sister's Keeper was the only one I've read too! I actually ended up buying this one since I was #35 on the waiting list on 5 copies of it at the library. So I guess it's popular! Starting it tonight or tomorrow, since I'm still waiting on Dune.

Mary Adgate | 14 comments Ok, just finished my comments on A Christmas Carol and about to start the Picoult book! I am so happy I joined this group. I used to always have a book with me when I was younger, but in the last 10 years, its been a painful challenge for me to finish a book. I still carry one with me everywhere, but I've always got about 6 I've started and rarely excited enough to finish one. I've just been restless with my reading. This group is giving me focus and I'm excited to read again. Thank you :-)

Leesa Mary, that's exactly how I feel about this club too. It's given me a reading goal and I even try to read my own books on the side too. I would never have read even one book a month if I hadn't joined the club, I only really read on my break in work before. Now my favourite thing to do is curl up on my sofa with the cat and a good book!

Looking forward to picking this one up to read, hopefully in the next week or so.

About halfway through. Have to admit wasn't really a Picoult fan before this (read a few of her books: Nineteen Minutes, My Sister's Keeper, and Second Glance) but I'm into this book.

See I am the opposite. I really like Picoult's other books (have read all of them except 1 or 2), but I didn't really like this one too much

Leesa I'd never actually read any of her books before. Just started this one but I'm enjoying it already. I knew from the reading I saw her do the characters would be strong and interesting and so far I'm not disappointed!

Melanie I finally started this book. The blurb didn't indicate the multiple perspectives, and I was pleasantly surprised by the perspective of the white surpremicist. Not all villains intend to be villainous.

Sarah | 728 comments I'm a little over halfway done with this one. I love it, the topics in this book are definitely fitting for the times we are living in and shouldn't be ignored.
