Hi everybody! I'm Sara. I'm from Egypt and I'm a student in Alexandria faculty of medicine. This is the first time I join an online book club and I really hope I have a fun experience with you all and I hope we become good friends :D. I love teading books but my medical studies sometimes don't give me enough free time to read. However, I read A LOT in vacations and I have fallen in love with many books I've read. I'm so excited about the buddy reads and I hope I can find somebody who likes the same genres as I do (or different genres it won't matter cuz I love trying new things in my life :D).

Welcome Sara. Our first new member of 2017! We're a mixed lot so you're bound to find someone who has a similar to in books as you. And for trying new things, we have the group reads and challenges which can help to expand your reading.

Welcome, Sara. I see that you are reading one of my all time favourites, The Book Thief. If there's anything that you want to read with a buddy, make a suggestion in the buddy read preparation thread and see if there's anyone who would like to join in. I really enjoy the buddy reads myself.

Well I didn't know I'm the first new member in 2017, but this made so happy and proud of myself! Nice to meet you all! And Janice The book thief is one of my favourites too. It is such an amazing book! I took a sneak peak in the buddy reads group and I loved it too and I will add a thread with one of the books in my TBR list! Thank you for this warm welcome and you all seem really friendly! I hope we can grow close together :D

Hello Everyone My name is Toni and I am new to Goodreads, not only have I never been apart of an online book club, I never been apart of any book club. I use to love to read but life took over and I no longer had the time to read and eventually lost motivation as well. I have since promised myself ( not a New Years Resolution) that I need to do something for myself, and getting back into reading was that something. I figured the best way to do that would be to join a group in hopes that being apart of something bigger than me would motivate me to keep reading. I'm in the process of figuring out how to use good reads and plan to join the year challenge.

Hi, I'm Irish and I love to read! I suffered a major brain injury in my 30's which limited my mobility and left me severely dyslexic, so please be kind as I'm bound to make mistakes!

I have spent the last last decade relearning how to read and find GR a huge help. I listen to most books on audio but as my reading progresses I am increasingly reading kindle books - big fan of OpenDyslexia font :-)

My reading tastes are very varied. I'm not a fan of romance nor NF but will try try most other things. It was the diversity of books that drew me to this group.

I hope to take part in some of the upcoming book discussions. When I'm not reading my next favorite pastime is talking about books :-)

Thanks Rusalka. That's a beautiful name! I'm already enjoying this group, it's so active. I'm home all day as I can no longer work due to disability so I'm loving all the posts. I'm following a few treads. Some wonderful ideas - the "all about you challenge" and the sunday check-in are great ;-)

We are pretty active, pretty much as we like to chat and particularly like to talk about books! We want to do lots of things that mean people can pick and choose what they are involved in. I'm glad you've found a few things that tickle your fancy already!

Welcome Margo! Don't worry about any typos, we've gotten good at figuring out what what's being said. It can get really funny sometimes - autocorrect has led to some interesting errors :)

I'm Livv and I'm 24 from Derbyshire, England. I have always loved to read but life seems to keep getting in the way recently so I have taken to Goodreads to try and keep myself on track.

I thought joining a book club might encourage me to try books I wouldn't normally pick up and YLTO, with it's variety and friendly atmosphere, seemed like a good place to start so here I am.

I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the year long challenge and maybe even finding my new favourite book!

I live up in Scotland (Shetland Islands) and joined Goodreads two years ago in an effort to re-spark my reading habit. I hadn't found time to read for years and wasn't even sure what type of books I wanted to read any more.
The community and challenges have definitely helped me out. I currently have 384 books on my 'To Be Read' list and growing... it grew by two this morning, inspired by something someone else has just finished.
It's a really friendly (slightly crazy) group and there's always something going on. I hope (think) you'll feel well at home here ; )

We're about to start our bi-monthly read-a-thon which we call a "Toppler", so if you feel brave and want to jump in, go and sign up! There is a lot of craziness and carrying ons, but lots of reading and one book could be the make or break between winners!

Derbyshire is such a beautiful place. I can understand why reading took a back seat while hanging out up there!

Hi Livv. I've found a bunch of new favorite books here. I've tried authors and genres I never would have before and now I can't imagine this wonderful resource.

Hi I am Prosenjit - from India!! I live in Kolkata (East India) and sometimes travel all over India for work (right now in Delhi - North and the capital). I love to read, and when I am travelling I carry books. My favorites are crime fiction, science fiction, espionage, non fiction related to war etc. Though I have recently tried to expand my range into fantasy, history and others as well. Ilove reading English, and Indian language (Hindi and Bengali) books. Great to meet so many passionate bibliophiles from all over the world!! I also love buying used books, gifting books, and helping schools set up libraries so that kids can read more!

By the way, most people call me Prosen or Jeet, so take your pick :-)

Hello! I'm a re-joining member! I was part of the group last year but lost my reading bug and stopped actively participating in groups. This year started off a bit slow but I seem to be picking up books again and remember this group was a lot of fun. Looking forward to getting stuck in again!
