Bamf? Isn't that the sound the Chibi Nightcrawler makes in X-Men?
Maybe! It is also what Jules has on his wallet in the cult classic film "Pulp Fiction." You know, the one that says badass motherf***** on it. ;-)

Oh I see, not nearly as cute as a Chibi Nightcralwer.

No, less cute, more scary yet righteous mobster-cool. But both I reckon are compliments, and I think that Justin has a wicked (now I'm using New England US slang! Or possibly original English!) book agenda!

Bamf applies as well to the teleport SFX of classic Nightcrawler, or did in the 80s and 90s. I never really made the connection to BAMF until today...
I am wholly on board with sharing this word with Nightcrawler of any era. Because as you know...
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
I think Nightcrawler and Jules both understand this well, though with decidedly different takes on how to be the shepherd.

Amazing. Game recognizes game.

In the story version where Kitty is telling a bedtime story to Illyana, Bamf is the name of the race, there were dozens of them. Wolverine was just called I'mean. Of course seeing him swallow a six pack crunch the cans and spit out a wadded up aluminum ball was classic.

I have pertinent useless trivia knowledge!
After Kitty tells the fairy story to Ilyana, Nightcrawler travels to an alternate universe where the Bamfs actually exist. They call him "Daddy". They basically became Marvel's version of the imps like Mr. Mxyzptlk who vexed Superman, except the Bamfs actually like Nightcrawler and they teamed up for numerous adventures over the years.
"Bamf" was the noise Nightcrawler's teleporting power made from the very earliest days, back in the mid-70s. After awhile "bamf" became an in-universe term for teleporting.
Interestingly, Nightcrawler was originally supposed to be a member of the new Legion of Superheroes over in DC, but the editors nixed the idea. He was supposed to come from an alternate universe whose people were responsible for the human legends of demons and elves. So when Dave Cockrum went over to Marvel, he took Nightcrawler with him and used him as part of the new X-Men. While part of the X-Men, Wolverine started referring to him as elf, and Nightcrawler's origin was later retconned as actually being a demon. (Bleh.)

Thinking of picking up last month BOTM-The Night Circus and hopefully have better luck finishing it this time.

Oh, I'm pretty sure she was. This seems to have started an "X-geek takeover" of sorts, though!

I acronymed the H-E double hockey sticks out of it, but then it bamfed to a new discussion. Apparently it is one of those words that has different meaning as a noun, verb, and adjective. Thanks a lot, English.

Deadpool.
I think it's from Deadpool/Spider-man #14.

1. Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein. I enjoyed the first half quite a bit, but was pretty annoyed by the second half. The main reason was the preachy monologues. The book became a vehicle for delivering small essays from the author, and the story suffered as a result. My review.
2. The Orphan’s Tales series by Catherynne Valente. I enjoyed this a lot, and I was particularly impressed by the nested story format and the intricacy with which all the tiny bits and pieces were woven together. I had never read anything like it before.
Book 1 – In the Night Garden – My Review.
Book 2 – In the Cities of Coin and Spice – My review.
Now I’m getting ready to start The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

Read a few unknown ones by classic authors that I love: The Glimpses of the Moon (Edith Wharton), Lady Susan (Jane Austen -- a bit like a milder version of Les Liaisons dangereuses!), and The Machine Stops (E. M. Forster).
The latter was disturbing in its prescience about modern-day interwebz. The part where everyone decides that direct experience/knowledge of X should be abandoned in favor of talking about what someone else wrote about what someone else thought about what someone else said about X hit a little too close to home in these days of alternative facts and truth being whatever the loudest people agree it is. Yikes.

I'm eager to hear your thoughts about it. I hope to read it eventually.
I finished The Stone Sky, and it was brilliant. She's brilliant. What a great ride. I can't really say more without ruining something, but Fifth Season is a must-read I think, and if you enjoyed that, you're going to be in heaven the rest of the series.
Odd Thomas was, as the name says, odd for me. It's the funniest book that has ever devastated me, and the best written, most interesting world I don't think I want to spend more time in. You should read it, just don't have the same brain weasels I do. Actually, that's good advice for all the books I read. Get your own brain weasels.
I've just started this month's reads (better late than never!) starting with Arcadia. It's going to be the book that completes my reading challenge! I am already interested but uncertain what's happening. Lots of great lines.

This weekend I've finished-- and didn't care for The Golem of Hollywood, Stephen Colbert's Midnight Confessions, which I thought was a hoot. Now I'm reading Not One Damsel in Distress: World Folktales for Strong Girls.

I loved that series. Dark, weird, unexpected, occasionally uneven, but all things considered an excellent tale.
