Hello, Andy. And thanks for jumping right in and making this new topic for 2017 newbies. Sounds like you're a keeper.

Thanks, Amy.... I've spent the day enjoying the discussion threads... ( Given that it's new year's day, I don't know if that's sad or exciting ;)

I am new to goodreads, so feel free to friend me.
I am an avid reader in a variety of topics and genres, sci fi, fantasy, time travel, sword and sorcery, action adventure, classics, cookbooks.
My first book, Druid's Portal will be out this year. It is a time travel romance, set in Roman Britain, around Hadrian's Wall. It has action aplenty with druids, Janet the archaeologist and Trajan a roman soldier, and an evil ex bent on destroying the past and future.
Looking forward to talking about books.

I'm Facundo Rodriguez from Argentina. I'm a fantasy, sci-fi, action aventure, medieval epic reader.
I realy enjoy read, but like many people, i have not all the time that i wish for read.
I think that is wonderfull get inside an aventure when reading and "live" so many greath histories. Laught and, ¿why not?, cry too. :D
This year i started read on english. The first book that i read in english (not IT oriented) was Ready Player One, and i really enjoy it.
My favorites are Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire, and The kingkiller chronicles Sagas
Right now surfing on Moby Dick waters.
Sorry for my robotic english,
Cheers and happy read for all!

I'm Paula Ottoni, a writer from Brazil, with Italian citizenship, living in Denmark (love cultural mixes :D)
I write mostly for young adults, but I'm always experimenting new genres and audiences. I mainly write romance and fantasy, sometimes a mix of both, and I just recently finished a sci-fi novel, which was a brand new horizon for me. I'm fascinated with time travel, and I think new and interesting stories can always be told in this theme.

My first novel in English is about time travel. It's called Half Moon and it's on Amazon for Kindle. It is not a sci-fi or high fantasy, it's more like a YA contemporary romance with the element of time-travel as a power the protagonist was born with. That creates a mess in her life, making her bring a young knight from the Crusades to the 21th century – and she will (obviously) fall in love with him while trying to save him from his evil brother.
This is the link of the book on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
I also have a website: www.paulaottoni.com
A pleasure to meet you all.
Cheers,
Paula

My name is Ned Huston, and I'm a writer and reader of time travel fiction and non-fiction. From my non-fiction reading it has become apparent that time travel is not possible, given the laws of physics as we know them, so I've been thinking under what physical conditions would time travel be possible? That has led to a new and interesting theory of time I call Quantum Time Theory, also the title of my first book an a ten volume time travel series I'm writing called The Nevertime Chronology, which I am self publishing now on Amazon, Kindle, etc. The first book will be available in a matter of days, the second mid-year, and the third near the end of the year. You can read about them at my web site nedhuston.com, where I also explain my theory of time in monthly installments titled "What Can You Learn about Time from an Actual Time Traveler?" I look forward to having fun on Goodreads, discussing interesting books, meeting people, and finding new and interesting things to read.

You mention that time travel - given the laws of physics as we know them isn't possible - but then neither was colour television 50 years ago.

Welcome to the group Ned--gotta agree with you about time travel..50 years ago nobody could swim up the Niagara Falls--and I'll bet no one will be able to swim up them 50 years from now..The laws of physics are the LAWS of physics...

Andrew I agree with you, but I worded my sentence "given the laws of physics as we know them." The chance that our understanding of the laws of physics is incorrect or incomplete is 100%. I have invented newly discovered laws of physics in my novel that make time travel possible.

P.S. I wasn't going for irony when I posted this on the Member Intro 2016 page first.

I'm a member for a few years now, but I haven't been active . . . except in writing. I currently have three time-travel books available on Amazon: SomeWhere SomeTime, JFK's Last Motorcade, and In the Year of Our Lord. If you're interested in the Old West (Dodge City), the Kennedy Assassination (What really happened), or the crucifixion of Christ, one of these books will give you an entertaining couple of weeks.

I’ve loved science fiction and fantasy since I picked up my first Roald Dahl book when I was about eight. My favorite series right now is Justin Cronin’s The Passage. Favorite authors: Ursula Le Guin, Olivia Butler and C.J. Cherryh, the great women of sci-fi! And of course time-travel books. My favorite: The Time-Traveler's Wife.
Before becoming an author I also spent some years editing other people’s books, so if you’d like to pick up some grammar tips in an entertaining fashion, come on over and check out the Grammar Peeves series in my blog.

I have always had an interest in time travel novels and though I should join a forum instead of scrolling thru FB all the time
My first time travel book in my bookcase was The House on the Strand by Daphne Du Maurier

My name is Alex. I am Austrian but live in Australia. I love the sun, ocean, kitesurfing and well... reading sci-fi.
Last year I thought I'll give it a try and start writing - I've been thinking about writing a book - a mix of classical sci-fi, environmental and spiritual topics - for some time and last October it suddenly felt like the right time to get started. So... voila... I have finished two books and self-published on Amazon only about a month ago (Title: Humans and other Aliens). Working on a third book right now and still loving it.
Regards,
Alex

Plenty (maybe too much, lol) bio info on my GR profile page.....
Time-travel from dystopian Oxridge College to ancient mythic England with the novella "Bards of Fantasia Ver. 2.0," Paperback $4.25. Kindle just 99cents, on pre-release until Sept. 16: https://www.amazon.com/BARDS-FANTASIA...

Imagine our own world of just a few decades ago seen through the eyes of extraordinary people with more than their share of problems, both mundane and horrific. Time-travel is used as a vehicle for cynical instruction by the villainous Moon People, who push the unwilling protagonists back in time to survive in sites of real historical atrocities. Why? To show them what *not* to do once they reach the far-future world after the annihilation of WW III. Reach it they do, with unprecedented consequences. And you might pick up on a few anomalies: a traveling sweatshirt and a screaming violin made in 1838. For those of you clamoring for something new, this novel just might be it! An Amazon reviewer called the book “utterly unique.”
I grew up in Los Altos, California, surrounded by live oak trees and golden wild-oat grass. It was really beautiful back then before the area was overtaken by tech and new wealth. Not that I mind progress: it’s inevitable (and the tech part drives science fiction). The first chapters of the novel take place in the “old” Santa Clara Valley from the mid to late 20th century, and these chapters are a cross between nostalgic and time-traveling creepy. Go figure: I’ve lived in New York City for the last twenty-five years, and although I love it, not a minute of my novel occurs there.
I’ve always loved Shakespeare from about age ten. So I ended up in a career in “early music,” classical music from Shakespeare’s time through Louis XIV’s. I teach the viola da gamba at New York University and direct The Teares of the Muses, a consort of viols. You won’t find any early music in The Last Shade Tree except for some minor mistreatment of J.S. Bach—and that violin. Perhaps I made a special effort to escape from my own environment that’s been one big adventure in real-life time-travel!

But I'd also like to introduce a friend of mine who just published a time travel book. I haven't read all of it yet, but it's on my TBR list for early next year. If you're interested, please check out A Drop of Blue by Isa Briarwood.
A Drop of Blue: Rifters: Book One

(And if there's a better place to post this, please let me know where. I couldn't find a completely general discussion group that seemed to fit the purpose.)

I also wrote a lil thing called Cuteness Overlord. Figured if I like time travel enough to write a book featuring it, I should probably fit here.
