Percy is confused. When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him. The only thing he can recall from his past is another name: Annabeth

Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. Sure, she was an obedient daughter, even when her mother was possessed by greed. But that was the problem — when the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Hazel wished she could ride away from it all on the stallion that appears in her dreams.

Frank is a klutz. His grandmother says he is descended from heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn't see it. He doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery — although not good enough to win camp war games. His bulky physique makes him feel like an ox, especially infront of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely — enough to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment of the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophesy of Seven.

Up to chapter 9 (view spoiler)[ I'm loving the Roman culture so far! It's so interesting reading this when Percy knows nothing, but we know everything about Percy. The differences in camp is my favourite thing, because man Romans do everything so much more intensely! In the best way, though (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 18 (view spoiler)[ I have so many questions about Hazel still, so I hope they aren't all meant to have been answered. I don't understand why Gaia chose to talk to them? Just because of Pluto?? And how did she not die? I have a LOT of questions, about everything (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 30 (view spoiler)[ I'm really enjoying Hazel's flashbacks, as weird as that sounds. Especially that last one with Frank! I wonder how that worked? Did Ella do something? Who knows, it was just good (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 38 (view spoiler)[ One of my favourite things is all the little jokes they drop in, like the whole thing about the Amazons. It was still intense, and there was the great bit with the horse, but that running joke was there and I loved that! (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ I'm so excited to see what's going to happen in the next book now that the Greeks and Romans have joined together. It could go terribly wrong or perfectly right, and I can't wait! (hide spoiler)]

I just got this from the library today so I might start it tonight or read it tomorrow.

Chapters 1-11: (view spoiler)[Okay, so this book is already starting off different then The Lost Hero. Yes, Percy has lost his memory of literally everything but Annabeth (because he knows that she is very important to him and he has a feeling that he needs to get to her pronto) but he definitely has been dealt a different hand than Jason.

Percy from the beginning has been trying to kill 3 enemies, sisters of Medusa to be exact, whereas Jason just woke up on a bus. It seems kind of unfair but then I remembered that Percy is a fucking bad ass. So, I guess I'm okay with this huge difference.

He also has lost the curse of Achilles by carrying Juno, aka Hera, into the Roman camp. And I'm actually surprised that no one there "remembers" him because they honestly don't know him. I wonder how that is all going to play out. Is he going to get his memories back faster than Jason?

Then Nico is mentioned throughout this passage and it kinds of seems he sort of wants to help him regain his memories but not really? I find it strange that he was trying to act so casual and try not to give it away that he actually does know Percy, but his sister Hazel obviously noticed. I also find it interesting that he has a house at this camp and visits instead of staying at camp half-blood.

Frank seems like an interesting characters so far. It's kind of sad that he thinks who his god parent is but doesn't really know. It must suck that he hasn't been claimed yet. Also that his mom died in Afghanistan is super sad.

He though his dad was Apollo but I think his dad is Ares? Which kind of sucks for him because his mom died in a war and his dad is the god of war. I wonder how he's going to digest that kind of information.

So far it's pretty interesting and I find myself trying to figure out which god is what because I know their greek names but their roman names are somewhat a mystery to me. So it's fun trying to figure it out while reading. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 12-22: (view spoiler)[Percy keeps having his really cool dreams where he can talk to people even if they aren't near him, like: Grover and Annabeth. He doesn't remember who Grover is but I'm assuming and hoping that he will start to remember his friendship with him. I mean if he can remember he has a girlfriend and that her name is Annabeth anything can happen, right?

He's also going on a mission with Hazel and Frank. Which sort of seems to follow the same story line with Jason. Hazel knows that she's supposed to die on this quest which definitely broke my heart. I don't know if I would want to know when I would die or what day it would actually happen. I feel like that would change how you act and I don't know if I could handle that sort of information.

Then they meet the rainbow goddess. OMG WHY ARE THERE SO MANY COOL JOBS FOR GODS?!?! God of Wine? Rainbow Goddess? Can I sign up for a cool god job?!!?

I hope Iris and Fleecy can help Percy, Hazel, and Frank out with their quest. I also hope Percy gains more of his memories. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 23-33: (view spoiler)[Okay so Hazel and Percy try to send iris messages. Hazel's contacts someone at camp, Reyna, and it works pretty well. Whereas, when Percy tries to contact Annabeth it doesn't work at all. This made me so sad. Because he remembers her and he can't even contact her!?! WHY?!?!!

While this was all happening Frank defeated the snakes that came to attack them and Percy has no idea how he did it. Also can we talk about how awesome it is that Percy can talk to sea creatures?!? Sign me up.

Then they met a harpy named Ella who wanted to join their quest. Hazel ends up confessing one of her secrets to Frank and Percy and they were impressed that she tried to take Gaea on her own. Plus, I really liked how Frank sort of traveled with Hazel into her past. Where he finds out that she is being judged and chose to spend a terrible time in the fields of asphodel and not in elysium and be happy.

I think he sees her in a different light and I have a feeling that Percy will too.

Chapters 34-44: (view spoiler)[So much has happened. They were attacked by ogres at Franks grandmothers house. They survived and start their journey to Alaska. Then Percy who is still slowly gaining his memory has finally mentioned to Hazel and Frank that he is a greek demi-god and that he is actually from the greek camp in Long Island. This totally throws them off because apparently one roman god would not like that there is a greek camp. So stupid but whatever. Let's see how this petty war will play out.

Percy gets in trouble, on accident I might say, and Hazel and Frank have to work together to save his life. They end up doing it because I mean Percy can't die in this series...right? Hazel ends up talking to Gaea while trying to save Percy and she figures out that she isn't real and probably finds that she hates this goddess even more now. Oh and Nico has been captured. Surprise surprise! I figured something bad would happen to Nico. He seems to get himself captured or in a lot of danger a lot of the time. Percy usually has to go and save him...so it's kind of predictable.

And then of course these three fall into a trap, which is also predictable, but I find Alcyoneus pretty interesting. I wonder what's going to happen. I mean he knows who they are.. hmm.. I really need to know what's going to happen. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 45-52, aka...
Finished: (view spoiler)[OMG WHAT AN ENDING!

So just like how Jason help camp half-blood in a battle, Percy does the same for camp jupiter. And who comes in the end?!?! Annabeth, Grover, Leo, everyone else that I can't remember from camp half-blood. I can't believe I didn't get to read or see their actual reunion. How dare you leave that out of the book Rick?!?!

Other than that I'm very proud of Percy. I'm happy to see Tyson and Mrs. O'leary were there in the end to help out as well. The one thing that kind of disappointed me was reading what the horses, or any animal, were saying. Like in the percy and the olympians series you got to read what blackjack said so I was kind of expecting that to happen in this book.

I wonder what's going to happen in the next book and why Hera is basically saying he shouldn't trust Annabeth. I wonder what her role is in the next book. I doubt she would hut Percy. I have a feeling their relationship is a lot stronger than that. (hide spoiler)]

I don't think I'm going to be able to read this one this month! I was due to have it from the library a week or two ago but whoever had it out hasn't returned it on time. If I get it soon I'll do my best to get to it :)
