It's similar to the Anne of Green Gables series in that it takes place on a farm in Prince Edward Island, and that Emily's an orphan (her mom died very young, and her father dies very early on in the first book). The tone is more cynical, though, which actually works better for me. She has to move in with her mom's relatives (her mom had run off with her dad very young and cut all ties, so things had been strained), and the town is one of those very eccentric, ingrown places. (Yikes, it just occured to me that that's probably why I liked GILMORE GIRLS, at least until season five...there are definitely similarities.) Emily wants to be a writer, so a lot of the books are devoted to her diaries (we don't really get to see her stories, though, which is kind of annoying now that I think about it). Book two, which covers her teenaged years at school, is my favorite, since it's the most funny and lighthearted. (Book three is a little too melodramatic romance for my taste.)

Thanks! Clarification, though, that's not a cover, just my concept trying to give the artists an idea. It is pretty cool though, huh? (Yeah, tooting my own horn! Wish I really had a grip on graphics, but I'm an amateur. Fun to do, though. :)
