Reading 1001 discussion

0. This topic is for sharing thoughts and ideas along the way. I've added it because I don't like the spoilers that questions sometimes imbed, but do like the opportunity to chat about a book - especially longer books - as I go along. This thread is for whatever you want.

I just finished part one. I really enjoyed it. I am on chapter 3 of ort two and I am having a little trouble staying interested. Anyone else having trouble with part 2.

It really warmed up for me in Part II and kept my focus. I put it aside after Part II to read The Leopard, and have picked it up again. Getting back into Part III was a little slow at first, but has picked up again. I think this is my favorite Dostoevsky so far.

I just finished chapter 4 of part two and it was pretty good. I think I was just in a reading slump. I am reading too many books at once.

I have finished Part III - my big deal cratered yesterday, so I should be able to finish in the next day or so with the additional time.

No worries - I just added it for those who wanted to chat along the way. The Litsys app seems ideal for that, except I am now being flooded by posts on Infinite Jest and I don't see anyway to screen those. :-(

I am struggling to learn the use of Litsy but giving it a try. Wish I had time to do the annual with you but pretty sure I'd start and not finish. Another book for my retirement!

I am loving it. Will probably finish before starting Infinite Jest instead of stretching it out over the year. My favorite Annual Read so far. A Chinese Game of Thrones - except bloodier.

It does sound so good. I am tempted to buy it but haven't yet.

I finally made it to part 4. Looking forward to finishing the book.

I have set myself the goal to finish this every month of 2017 and here it is July and I still am struggling to knock it off. I have liked it, although I find the different names for characters as confusing as in other Russian novels. I got waylaid by Infinite Jest and have scarcely recovered! Now LOTR looms, but I am reading nothing else until this is done!
