C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Hello, all!

My friend Allie and I are playing around with doing a book chain and wanted to see if there was any interest from members of our group here. Basically, we would get to choose which books we participated with and start a chain where we send them to each other. So everyone could offer up a book that they would be willing to send out to someone and then that person would read it and send it to the next person in line. It would also be up to the original person (who owns the book) if they want it back or not. If so, the last person signed up would send it back to the original person.

Unfortunately this will have to be limited to those within the US, due to shipping costs. If we have a lot of interest from a group in another country I would be happy to help you organize a chain there as well.

To get things started, we need suggestions. Let us know if you want to particiapte as well as any rules/guidelines you think we should put in place. If you are under 18 you will need to have permission from a parent/guardian in order to participate.

The first books we are about to send each other are The Assassin's Curse (The Assassin's Curse, #1) by Cassandra Rose Clarke duology and Death Spiral A Faith Flores Science Mystery by Janie Chodosh .

Please comment and let us know if you're interested in a book chain for either of these and any other suggestions you have.

Welcome to the group! We have an introduction page, if you want to introduce yourself there: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

And feel free to join any of our challenges. :)

Probably just to keep books in good shape! I hate the thought of a damaged book, gives me goosebumps just thinking about it! But both books sound like a great read, should always be willing to try something new!

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Excellent. I will make a list and put you on there. :)

Keeping books in good shape is definitely a good guideline to have. :)

Allie Yeah this will be fun! Thanks Courtney. Not sure about rules. I don't need the duology back so the last person can keep it if they want! Will send it to Courtney this weekend :)

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) I think this a great idea, and the duology looks very interesting!

Would this be a chain in the sense that you just send the book on to the next person when you are done, or would we send a book of our own along as well?

message 11: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments We were thinking the first one, Kaylin. But anyone who wanted to offer a book as part of the chain could and anyone interested could sign up for that one specifically. Does that make sense?

Trisha | 6804 comments I'm in. I'd be open to sending out a book I own as well

Oh and I've been a part of 3 traveling book programs and they were fun.

the only good rule is communicate. pop on and say when you get the book, say when you're done and you are shipping. confirm when shipping is done and then the next person confirm when you receive, etc.

Yes for The Assasin's Curse. :)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Great! Over the next couple of days I'll post a signup for each book, that way we can use those threads to communicate like you said, Trisha. Then everyone will know who has each book and when it should get to them.

message 15: by Allie (new)

Allie Hi Courtney and Trisha! I think that is a great rule about saying when you have gotten the book and shipping updates. Also I think another one could be that if the original book owner doesn't need or want the book anymore the last person can keep it and do what they want with it. What do you think? Having a signup sheet will definitely keep things organized.

message 16: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yes, I definitely think that would work, Allie. Or they can post on the signup page to see if anyone else who read it would like it. (If they don't want it themselves.)
