Oh, one more thing. I just wanted to reiterate this. It's ok to disagree, but we can still be friendly and polite. Heck, even have a little fun with it.

Happy to help, participate, in any way that's not intrusive, it's a reader's group, after all, first and foremost.

Part of what derailed the topic of the month was: there was a tangle with the mods and a mess until that sorted out, yay, it's well behind, not to dig up old stuff, the current mods are doing a great job.

If you want to revive the panel discussions, I can help. I was in the wings helping with contacting authors for the group, to bring them in, and I can do so again. I also helped with a list of topics to discuss, but that list got well and truly lost, we'd have to start over. You may be able to find the original discussions deep in the archives - it would have been about 2009 or 10/11? If this is something the group wants to do, I am sure there would be support for it, and likely, if approached properly, not just from me.

Regarding next month's discussion of The Curse of the Mistwraith, let me say I was bowled over and thrilled it was selected. I've been contacted thru official channels, today, by your mod, and yes, I'd be pleased to support the discussion with a Q & A or other support material - where it comes to the readership's discussion, best to let folk say what they like, as they like, without an authorial presence, so the discussion itself is theirs to steer as they wish, I prefer not to interfere with that.

If any book comes up and you want author Q&A participation, I have never minded helping the group with contacting them, if I know the author (it's a small world, in publishing, so I may) - have helped in this regard in the past, but have been out of touch/buried in deadline pressure for the past few years. Feel free to give me a shout if you think I can help.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 325 comments Another huge problem was the new GR homepage. It filtered out access to the discussions. They've tried to add something back in but it's still a lot less visual access.

Out of sight, out of mind.

All of my groups have noticed dramatically decreased member participation since the homepage change.

Yes, I've noticed the drop off. Except in the buddy read group I'm in - there are about 70 members and 30 odd are on non stop every day.

I think I saw those threads last year Janny, I'll have a root round.

That is the secret. Having constant reads even if it's just a couple of members doing some of them. It will cause people to browse the forum and be more involved.

Liam Perrin (liamperrin) | 194 comments I am three months late to the discussion, but I'm one of the people that hadn't logged into Goodreads in a-couple/three years. I'm glad I was still on the rolls :) Most of the groups I'd joined haven't seen any activity in about as long. So you're doing something right here!

Monica Davis An appropriate title for this thread. I just noticed it!!! I really should pay better attention to all the great tidbits of discussion. Thanks, Liam for posting and bringing this topic to the top of the discussion threads, or I may not have noticed it at all!

I really enjoyed this discussion. I'm glad Liam started it up again.
