Now that we have a winner and the runners up...
How many honor books would you choose? Where do we draw the final line? I believe last year set the record for the most honor books ever chosen by a Caldecott committee when they selected a whopping six honor books!

Here they are in order with points:

The Night Gardener -35 Points
Some Writer!: The Story of E.B. White -29 Points
Thunder Boy Jr. -22 Points
Before Morning -18 Points
The Uncorker of Ocean Bottles -13 Points

Where would you "draw the line?"

Niki | 62 comments How many points did They All Saw A Cat get? I'm surprised that didn't make the final list!

Niki | 62 comments Oh! Never Mind!!! I just saw that it won! :) Ignore me! :)

Niki | 62 comments It seems like they have been picking at least the top 3 lately!

Charlene (booknerd216) | 49 comments I also suggest that we choose the top three for honor titles.

Carol V (vanhookc) | 118 comments I vote to select 5 whopping honor books! Every single one of these topped my votes this year! What a year of great children's literature!

Caren (carenb) | 78 comments How about 4, and then letting us each pick a "wild card" choice for fun?

❦❧Stacy❦❧ (stacydigi) I think there should be no more than 3 honor books. Otherwise it is taking away from the award.

Caren (carenb) | 78 comments The committee has chosen up to 6 honors, though that has distracted from the honor somewhat.
Just saying.

message 13: by Laura (new)

Laura Harrison | 414 comments I don't think it detracts from the award at all. There are so many distinguished books this year. The committee would be remiss to ignore them.

Ms. B | 26 comments Based on points, I would vote for 2 Honor books.
