Were you as surprised as Lucy to discover the body in the park wasn't Mr. Pugh?

Yes. Since Mr. Pugh often wandered away, it could have been him. When she figured out it wasn't it was clear that it was aimed solely at her. At that point, we didn't know that the killer was targeting Lucy or that this was connected to something bigger.

Everything said Mr. Pugh and I'd already settled back trying to figure out why someone wanted to kill him. When it started to fall apart, I was caught off guard. Never saw that coming. I'd already moved on to the next set of clues:)

When they figured out he had been frozen, that's when I first suspected that it had to be someone who knew her very well, or knew someone who knew her very well.

Yes, all indications pointed to it being Mr. Pugh. I somehow "felt" that Lucy was being targeted for some reason. The killer knew her running schedule and her care for this elderly man.

It never occurred to me that it wasn't him and that was a really bizarre twist that had me intrigued to see how the rest of the book would go.
