Sarah Hello book sleuths!

A friend of mine is looking for a book and I thought there's a good chance we've got some gamers here in the group. Here's the description he's written so far:

"There was a book or books that came out ~25 years ago. The book was corollary to gaming, and addressed dice rolls for anything - what would happen if you were put out an airlock, how being thrown into hot lava would affect you, etc. The author(s) had a humor to the captioning and IIRC their odds seemed to make sense as well (what percentages resulted in what things). Sound familiar?"

I've asked him some follow-up questions, and I'll post his response when I get them.

Thanks!

Sarah His latest update:

"As memory serves, it was more a collection of charts and descriptions than a linear book. Picture an ephemeres or other chart book and you're closer. I'll also rattle the cage of one guy I hazily remember from the gaming culture back then...IIRC, it was made to be a supplement for gamers if your dungeon went into X territory and Y happened - what are the odds of each result? That kind of thing..."

Wayne Baxter | 33 comments I got a tip from a freind who is a gaming guru. He says it sounds alot like Central Casting. Its a General rule book, like G.U.R.P.S, that can be incorporated into other game systems.
